APPROPRIATION (ADELAIDE TO DARWIN RAILWAY) ACT

An Act to authorise the issue and expenditure of public moneys of the Territory to contribute to the construction of the Adelaide to Darwin railway

  1. Short title

    This Act may be cited as the Appropriation (Adelaide to Darwin Railway) Act.  (See back note 1)

  2. Authorisation and allocation

    (1)      Subject to subsection (3), the amount necessary to assist in the construction of the Adelaide to Darwin railway is to be provided from the public moneys of the Territory.

    (2)      The Allocation to Northern Territory Railway is increased by the amount authorised under subsection (1).

    (3)      The amount referred to in subsection (1) cannot exceed the sum of –

    (a)an amount that is equal to $50 million less than the limit of the Territory's expenditure prescribed under the AustralAsia Railway Corporation Act; and

    (b)any moneys received by the Territory by the Commonwealth or the State of South Australia for expenditure on constructing the Adelaide to Darwin railway.
