9194 CONSTITUTION. Appropriation Acts. 7 EDW. VII. No. 2, 1907. services of the year ending on the thirtieth day of June, One thousand nine hundred and eight, the sums following, that is to say,- From the Consolidated Revenue Fund of Queens- land (exclusive of the moneys standing to the credit of the Loan Fund Account) the sum of Three hundred and fifty thousand pounds; From the Trust and Special Funds the sum of Thirty thousand pounds; and From the moneys standing to the credit of the Loan Fund Account the sum of One hundred thousand pounds. Treasurer to 2. W HEREAS we, your Majesty's most dutiful and loyal subjects, the members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, have in the present Session of Parliament cheerfully granted to your Majesty

Appropriation AMs. the sums hereinafter mentioned towards the services of the year ending on the thirtieth day of June, One thousand nine hundred and eight, in addition to the sums already granted during the present Session of Parliament towards the same .services ~ And whereas we desire to make good out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of Queensland the sums granted to your Majesty as aforesaid: :Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :- 1 In addition to the sums of Three hundred and fifty Appropriu.. thousand pounds already applied .from the Consolidated tion. 'rhis Act mav be cited as" The POrJr Prisoners" Befence Act of 1907~ " . Provision of legal aid. 2. Any person committed for trial for an indict'lble offence against the laws of the State of Queensland may, at any time before the jury is sworn, apply to a Suprelne Court Judge, or to a .Judge of District Courts, or to a Police Magistrate for the appointment of counsel for his. defence. If it is found to the satisfaction of the said J udgO" or Police Magistrate that- (1) Such person is without adequate means to. provide defence for himself,; and (2) It is desirable in the interests of justice that. such an appointment should be made;
