An Act for applying certain sums arising' from the Revenue receivable in New South Wales to the Service thereof for the Year One thousand eight hundred and thir ty-seven and for further appropriat ing the said Revenue. [5th August, 1836.]
| WHEREAS by a certain Act of Parliament passed in the ninth | year of the reign of His late Majesty King George the Fourth intituled " An Act to provide for the Administration | of Justice in New |
" South Wales and Van Diemen's Land and for the more effectual " Government thereof and for other purposes relating thereto " it was
amongst other things enacted That all and every the powers and authorities vested by certain other Acts of Parliament therein referred to or either of them in the Governor of New South Wales or the person administering the Government thereof should thenceforth be vested in and exercised by the said Governor acting with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council of the said Colony and that the produce of the several duties imposed and made payable under and by virtue of the said recited Acts therein referred to and also under and by virtue of that Act should be applied in such manner and to such purposes as the said Governor and Council should from time to time by any Law or Ordinance appoint Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of New South Wales with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof That out of the excess of the amount appropriated out of the produce of the said duties for the service of the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty-five there shall and may be issued and applied any sum or sums of money not exceeding eleven thousand one hundred and ninety pounds eighteen shillings and eight-pence to supply the deficiencies in the amount appropriated for certain departments for that year.
| 2. And be it enacted That out of the produce of the said duties there shall and may be issued and applied any sum or sums of money not exceeding twenty-four thousand six hundred and eighty-six pounds seven shillings and five-pence for defraying the supplementary charge for the service; of the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six as hereinafter more particularly expressed that is to say any sum or sums of money not exceeding one hundred and seventy-six pounds one shilling and sixpence to defray the supplementary expense of the Department of the Colonial Architect and Surveyor of Buildings and any sum or sums of money not exceeding one hundred and twenty-two pounds and fifteen shillings to defray the supplementary expense of the Department of the Commissioner for the Assignment of Convict Servants and any sum or sums of money not exceeding seventy-three pounds fifteen shillings and four-pence to defray the supplementary expense of the Auditor General's Department and any sum or sums of money not exceeding two thousand three hundred and thirty pounds to defray the supplementary expense of the Department of the Customs and any sum or sums of money not exceeding fifty-three pounds and ten shillings to defray the supplementary expense of the Department of the Collector of Internal Revenue and any sum or sums of money not exceeding one thousand two hundred and eighty-four pounds and seven shillings to defray the supplementary expense of the Postmaster General's | Department |
Department and any sum or sums of money not exceeding eight hundred pounds to defray the supplementary expense of the Surveyor General's Department and any sum or sums of money not exceeding six hundred pounds to defray the supplementary expense of the Mineral Surveyor's Department and any sum or sums of money not exceeding one thousand three hundred and sixty-nine pounds one shilling and eight-pence to defray the supplementary expense of the Supreme Court and Law Officers of the Crown and any sum or sums of money not exceeding eighty-nine pounds eighteen shillings and seven-pence to defray the supplementary expense of the Sheriff's Department and any sum or sums of money not exceeding four thousand three hundred pounds to defray the supplementary expense of the Episcopalian Clergy and Schools and any sum or sums of money not exceeding nine hundred and ninety pounds to defray the supplementary expense of the Roman Catholic Clergy and Schools and any sum or sums of money not exceeding ninety-seven pounds eleven shillings and sixpence in aid of private contributions received to the same amount for the Australian School Society and any sum or sums of money not exceeding one hundred and fifty-five pounds ten shillings and ten-pence in aid of private contributions received to the same amount for the Sydney Dis pensary and any sum or sums of money not exceeding two hundred and thirty-five pounds to defray the expense of He-printing the Acts of the Governor and Council and any sum or sums of money not exceeding nine thousand nine hundred and eighty-three pounds and six shillings to defray the supplementary expense for Miscellaneous Services and any sum or sums of money not exceeding six hundred pounds to defray the charge for the Colonial Services of the Royal Engineer Command ing and any sum or sums of money not exceeding eight hundred and twenty-live pounds and ten shillings to defray the charge of an allowance to the Representatives of the late Deputy Commissary General Laidley as a remuneration for services rendered by that officer to the Colony from the twenty-fifth of June one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven to the thirty-first of December one thousand eight hundred and thirty-one and any sum or sums of money not exceeding six hundred pounds towards the support of destitute Roman Catholic Children.
3. And be it enacted That out of the produce of the said duties there shall and may be issued and applied any sum or sums of money not exceeding thirty-two thousand and forty-two pounds nineteen shillings and ten-pence for defraying the charge of the Civil Establish
ment of New South Wales for the year one thousand eight hundred and
thirty-seven as hereinafter more particularly expressed that is to say any sum or sums of money not exceeding three hundred and thirty- one pounds eighteen shillings and nine-pence to defray the expenses of the Establishment of His Excellency the Governor and any sum or sums of money not exceeding eight hundred and seventeen pounds two shillings and sixpence to defray the salaries of the Officers and the contingent expenses of the Department of the Executive and Legis lative Councils and any sum or sums of money not exceeding five thousand three hundred and twenty-six pounds two shillings and eleven-pence to defray the salaries of the Officers and the contingent expenses of the Department of the Colonial Secretary and any sum or sums of money not exceeding one thousand one hundred and sixty- seven pounds eight shillings and nine-pence to defray the salaries of the Officers and the contingent expenses of the Department of the Colonial Architect and Surveyor of Buildings and any sum or sums of money not exceeding three hundred and thirty-six pounds eighteen shillings and nine-pence to defray the salaries of the Officers and the contingent expenses of the Department of the Commissioner for the

A n d be i t enacted Tha t out of t h e produce of t he said duties the re shall a n d may be issued and appl ied any s u m or sums of money n o t exceeding four t housand pounds to t h e Governor for t h e t ime-being of t he said Colony to be applied to meet unforeseen expenses on occasions of emergency for t h e year one t h o u s a n d eight

13. A n d be i t enacted T h a t t h e Treasurer of t he said Colony
shall issue and pay t h e said several sums to such persons for t he pur poses hereinbefore ment ioned upon such days and in such propor t ions as t h e Governor for t h e t ime-being by any w a r r a n t or order in wr i t i ng to be signed by h i m snail from t ime to t i m e order and direct and tha t t h e p a y m e n t s so to be m a d e shall be charged upon and payable out of t h e Revenues of t h e said Colony.
14. A n d be i t enacted Tha t t h e said Treasure r shall in his accounts from t ime to t ime be al lowed credit for any s u m or sums of money paid by h i m in pu r suance of such w a r r a n t or order in wr i t ing as aforesaid and t h a t t h e receipt or receipts of t h e respect ive persons to w h o m the same shall be so paid shall be a full and valid discharge to t h e said Treasurer in pass ing his said accounts for any such sum or sums as shal l be there in ment ioned and t h a t he shal l and do receive credit for t h e same accordingly.
