An Ordinance for the further Appropriation of the Revenue for the Year 1856, and for the General Appropriation of the Revenue for the Year 1.858.

HEREAS by the Laws relating to the Customs and Trade,

Wand other Acts and Ordinances of this Colony, certain du-

ties, fines, and other monies are or may be imposed, levied, and collected, to be paid to the Colonial Treasurer, on behalf of Her

and in support of the Government thereof: Be it therefore enacted, Preamble.

Majesty, her heirs and successors, for the Public uses of the Colony

by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its De- pendencies; by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof:—

I. THAT out of the said duties, and the produce of all, or any other the General Public Revenues of the Province, not otherwise

by law specially appropriated, there shall or may be further issued

purposes hereinafter mentioned, any sums of money, not exceeding in amount respectively the several sums of money hereinafter speci- fied; that is to say

FIRSTLY, for defraying the excess of Expenditure for the

tore, 1856, grants for the Year ended the 31st day of December, 1856, the sum

of Three thousand one hundred and fifty-two pounds, four shil-

lings; the said amount being appropriated as follows, viz. :—

FOR SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES.—

Colonial Secretary, Two hundred and nineteen pounds, Eight

shillings and sevenpence.

Clerk of Councils, One hundred and twenty-four pounds, Four-

teen shillings and fourpence.

Surveyor General, Forty-six pounds, Nine shillings and four-

pence.

Harbour Master, One hundred and fifty-eight pounds Ten

shillings and fivepence.

Judicial Establishment, Fifty-seven pounds, Eight shillings and

eightpence.

Medical, One hundred and forty-five pounds, Ten shillings and

fourpence.

Aborigines, Ten pounds, Four shillings and sixpence.

Immigration, Fifty pounds, One shilling and eightpence.

FOR SERVICES EXCLUSIVE OF ESTABLISHMENTS.—

Charitable Allowances, Eighty pounds and elevenpence.

Police, One hundred and eighty-eight pounds, Eight shillings and

fivepence.

Rottnest Penal Establishment, Ninety-seven pounds, Five

and threepence.

Repayment of Debts, One thousand nine hundred and forty-

two pounds, One shilling and sevenpence.

Refunds, Drawbacks, &c., Thirty-two pounds.

SECONDLY, for defraying the charge of the Colonial Govern-

Ecclesiastical Establishment, One thousand eight hundred and

one pounds.

Medical Establishment, One thousand one hundred and ninety-

three pounds, five shillings.

Police, Seven thousand one hundred and eighty-six pounds.

Gaols, Four hundred and thirty-one pounds, Ten shillings.

Rottnest Penal Establishment, Three hundred arid seventy-four

pounds.

Aborigines, Six hundred and seventy-five pounds, fifteenshillings.

Poor House, One hundred and thirty-one pounds.

Education, One thousand six hundred pounds.

Pensions, Retired Allowances, and Gratuities, Four hundred and

twenty-six pounds.

For Revenue Services (exclusive of establishments), One htmdred

pounds.

For Administration of Justice (exclasive of establishments), Five

hundred and seventy pounds.

For Ecclesiastical Services (exclusive of establishments), Sixty

pounds.

For Charitable Allowances (exclusive of establishments), Eight

hundred pounds.

For Hospitals (exclusive of establishments), Six hundred pounds. For Police (exclusive of establishments), One thousand eight

hundred and eighty-four pounds.

For Gaols (exclusive of establishments), One thousand eight

For Works and Buildings, One thousand nine hundred and fifty

pounds.

For Roads and Bridges, Two thousand pounds.

For Miscellaneous Services, Two hundred and thirty pounds.

For Iminigration, Two hundred and fifty pounds.

For Aborigines (exclusive of establishments), Five hundred and

ninety-two pounds.

For Harbour Master (exclusive of establishments), Four hundred

pounds.

For Payment of Debts, Four thousand two hundred and seven

pounds, Ten shillings and tenpence.

Amounting in the whole to the above sum of Fifty-one thousand

and thirty pounds.

II. AND be it enacted, that the Colonial Treasurer shall issue and pay from time to time any sum or sums of money, for the purposes hereinbefore mentioned, not exceeding in the whole the sums respectively in that behalf hereinbefore specified, to such persons, and in such portions, as the Governor for the time being shall
