An Ordinance to provide for the paymentofcer- tain unforeseen Expenses in the Year One Thousand Eight hundred and Fifty-six.
HEREAS it is necessary to provide for the payment of
Wcertain unforeseen expenses in the Year One thousand
Eight hundred and Fifty-six, for which no provision has been made ;—Be it therefore enacted, by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof :—
I. THAT out of the product of the Revenue of the said Colony, there shall and may be issued and applied a sum not exceeding Five thousand and Fifty-eight Pounds, Ten shillings, in the manner following, that is to say :—

For the Expenditure of the Penal Establishment at Rottnest
Island, a sum not exceeding Three hundred Pounds.
For Pensions and Gratuities, a sum not exceeding Twenty-five
Pounds.
For Ecclesiastical services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not
exceeding Thirty-five Pounds.
For Rent, a sum not exceeding Fifty-two Pounds, Ten shillings, For Works and Buildings, a sum not exceeding One thousand Five
hundred Pounds.
For Harbour Master, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex.
ceeding Two hundred and Fifty Pounds.
For Rottnest Penal Establishment, exclusive of Establishments, a
sum not exceeding One thousand Pounds.
For payment of Interest and of Debts and Debentures, a sum not exceeding One thousand Eight hundred and ninety-six Pounds.
II. THAT the Colonial Treasurer shall issue and pay, from time to time, any sum or sums of money, for the purpose herein- before mentioned, not exceeding in the whole the sums respectively in that behalf hereinbefore specified, to such persons and in. such portions as the Governor shall, by an order or orders in writing, signed by him, from time to time direct ; and the said Treasurer shall in his accounts be allowed credit for all sums so paid by him in pursuance of such orders accordingly ; and the receipts of the persons to whom such sums shall have been so paid respectively, shall be to the said Treasurer a full discharge for the sum or sums of money for which the said receipts shall have been respectively given, and the amount thereof shall be passed to his credit in account accordingly.
