An Ordinance to provide for the payment of certain unforeseen Expenses in the Year One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six ; and also to provide for the appropriation of the Revenue for the Year One thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven.

eight hundred and fifty-six, for which no provision has been made, and also to provide for the service of the year One thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven ; Be it therefore enacted, by His Excel- lency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof :—
I. THAT out of the product of the Revenue of the said colony, there shall and may be issued and applied, to defray the supplementary charge for the service of the year ending the 31st day of December, 1856, and not provided for in the Ordinance for that year, a sum not exceeding One thousand pounds, as detailed in the schedule hereto.
IL THAT a sum not exceeding Forty-nine thousand, two hun- dred and sixty pounds be charged on the Revenue of the said Colony for the service of the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, and applied in manner following,—that is to say,
For the expenditure of the Civil Establishment, a sum not exceeding twenty-eight thousand, nine hundred and forty-seven pounds, eight shillings and fourpence.
For Pensions, Retired Allowances, and Gratuities, a sum not ex- ceeding Four hundred and twenty-six pounds.
For Revenue Services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding Three hundred and twenty pounds.4
For Administration of Justice, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding Seven hundred and seventy pounds.
For Ecclesiastical Services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding Fifty pounds.
For Charitable Allowances, a sum not exceeding Eight hundred pounds.
For Hospitals, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding Six hundred pounds.
For Police, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding One thousand, nine hundred and ten pounds.

For Gaols, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding
Two thousand, three hundred and eighty pounds.
For Rottnest Penal Establishment, a sum not exceeding six hundred and fifty pounds.
For Rent, a sum not exceeding Four hundred and seven pounds.
For Transport, a sum not exceeding Two hundred pounds.
For Conveyance of Mails, a sum not exceeding One thousand, four hundred pounds.
For Works and Buildings, a sum not exceeding One thousand, two hundred pounds.
For Roads and Bridges; a sum not exceeding Two thousand pounds.
For Miscellaneous Services, a sum not exceeding One hundred and twenty pounds.
For Immigration, a sum not exceeding Two hundred and fifty pounds.
For Surveyor-General, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex- ceeding Two hundred pounds.
For Aborigines, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding Two hundred and ninety pounds.
For Harbour Master, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex- ceeding Four hundred pounds.
For Payment of Interest and of Debts and Debentures, a sum not exceeding Five thousand, nine hundred and thirty-nine pounds, eleven shillings and eightpence.
III. THAT the Colonial Treasurer shall issue and pay from time to time any sum or sums of money for the purpose hereinbe- fore mentioned, not exceeding,in the whole,the sums respectively in that behalf hereinbefore specified, to such persons and in such por- tions as the Governor shall, by an order or orders in writing, signed by him, from time to time direct ; and the said Treasurer shall, in his accounts, be allowed credit for all sums so paid by him in pursuance

of such orders accordingly; and the receipts of the persons to whom such sums shall have been so paid respectively shall be to the said Treasurer a full discharge for the sum or sums of money for which the said receipts shall have been respectively given, and the amount thereof shall be passed to his credit in account accordingly.
IV. THAT the said schedule shall be taken to be part of this Ordinance.
