An Ordinance to provide for an Excess of Expenditure in the Year 1854 over and above the Estimates for the same.
HEREAS it is necessary to provide for the payment of Preamble.

Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council
thereof-

I. THAT out of the Revenue of the said colony there shall and may be issued and applied to defray the Supplementary charge for the service of the Year ending on the 31st day of December, 1854, and not provided for in the Ordinance for that year, a sum not exceed- ing £6,110 4s. 4d. Sterling, in the manner following ; that is to say :-
For the Civil Establishments, a sum not exceeding £794 4s. 8d.
For Pensions, retired allowances, and gratuities, a sum not ex-
ceeding £4 6s. 8d.
For Revenue Services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not
exceeding £27 10s. 4d.
For Administration of Justice, a sum not exceeding £166 l ls. 2d.
For Charitable Allowances, a sum not exceeding £92 8s. 2d.
For Education, a sum not exceeding £68 l ls. 8d.
For Hospitals, a sum not exceeding £30 16s. 4d.
For Police, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding £945

For Gaols, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding £860
Os. 4d.
For Rent, a sum not exceeding £50 13s. 2d.
For Transport, a sum not exceeding £38 19s. 1 ld.
For Conveyance of Mails, a sum not exceeding £8 16s. 10d.
For Works and Buildings, a sum not exceeding £1380 7s. 3d.
For Roads and Bridges, a sum not exceeding £123 18s. 5d.
For Miscellaneous Services, a sum not exceeding £152 18s.
For Immigration, a sum not exceeding £464 7s. Id.
For Surveyor General, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex-
ceeding £842 19s. 7d.
For Aborigines, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding
£51 Ils. 8d.
For Harbour Master, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex-
ceeding 2s.
As more particularly set forth and detailed under each head of Ex- penditure respectively in the Schedule hereunto annexed.
II. AND be it enacted, that the Colonial Treasurer shall issue and pay, from time to time, any sum or sums of money for the for purposes hereinbefore mentioned, not exceeding in the whole the sums respectively in that behalf hereinbefore specified, to such per- sons and in such portions as the Governor for the time being shall, by any order or orders in writing signed by him, from time to-time,

direct; and the said Treasurer in his accounts shall be allowed credit for all sums paid by him in pursuance of such orders accordingly ; and the receipts of such persons to whom such sums shall have been so paid, shall be to him a full discharge for the sum or sums for which the same receipts shall have been respectively given, and the amounts thereof respectively shall be passed to his credit in account accordingly.
