An Ordinance to provide for the payment of certain unforeseen Expenses in the year 1855, and also for the appropriation of the Revenue for the service of the year 1856.

HEREAS it is necessary to provide for the payment of certain

has been made; and also for a further appropriation of the RevenueWunforeseen Expenses of the year 1855, for which no provision

for the service of 1856 ;—Be it therefore enacted, by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof-

I.

THAT out of the product of the Revenue of the said colony there shall and may be issued and applied to defray the Supplemen- tary charge for the service of the Year ending on the 31st day of December, 1855, and not provided for, a sum not exceeding £7,984 3s. ld., as detailed in Schedule No. 1.

II.

AND be it enacted, that a sum not exceeding £51,119 13s. 5d., be charged upon the Revenue of the said colony for the service of the year 1856, and applied in manner following ; that is to say :—

For the expenditure of the Civil Establishments, a sum not exceed-

ing £316, 15 15s. 4d.

For Pensions, gratuities, &c , a sum not exceeding £26.

For Revenue Services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not

exceeding £200.

For Administration of Justice, exclusive of Establishments, a sum

not exceeding £370.

For Ecclesiastical Services, exclusive of extablishments, a sum not

exceeding £442 2s. ld.

For Charitable Allowances, a sum not exceeding £350.

For Education, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

£720.

For Hospitals, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

£680.

For Police, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

£1970.

For Gaols, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

£2380.

For Rent, a sum not exceeding £371 6s.

For Transport, a sum not exceeding £540.

For Conveyance of Mails, a sum not exceeding £1250.

For Works and Buildings, a sum not exceeding £3000.

For Roads and Bridges, a sum not exceeding £2300.

For Miscellaneous Services, a sum not exceeding £470.

For Immigration, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

£1250.

For Surveyor General, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex;

°ceding £270

For Aborigines, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

£522.

For Harbour Master, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex-

ceeding £1020.

For repayment of Debts to Imperial Treasury, a sum not exceed-

ing £1000.

For Interest on Debentures, a sum not exceeding £56.

For Interest on Savings Bank's Deposits, a sum not exceeding

£150.

In manner more particularly set forth and detailed under each head of Expenditure respectively in the Schedule hereunto annexed, and marked No. 2.

THAT the Colonial Treasurer shall issue and pay, from time to time, any sum or sums of money for the purposes hereinbefore mentioned, not exceeding in the whole the sums respectively in that behalf hereinbefore specified, to such persons and in such por- tions as the Governor shall, by an order or orders in writing signed by him, from time to time, direct ; and the said Treasurer in his ac- counts shall he allowed credit for all sums so paid by him in pursu- ance of such orders accordingly ; and the receipts of the persons to whom such sums shall have been so paid respectively, shall be to the said Treasurer a full discharge for the sum or sums for which the same receipts shall have been respectively given, and the amount thereof shall be passed to his credit in account accordingly.

IV.     THAT the said Schedule shall be taken to be part of this

Ordinance.
