An Ordinance tor the Appropriation of the

Revenue for the Year 1853.

HEREAS it is expedient to provide for the service of the

Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and withWyear 1853 ;—Be it therefore enacted, by His Excellency the

the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, that a sum not exceeding £22,395 . 17s. 11d. be charged upon the Revenue of the said colony for the service of the year 1853, and applied in manner following ;—that is to say,

For the expenditure of the Civil Establishment, a sum not exceed- ing ten thousand one hundred and twenty-five pounds, seventeen shillings and eleven pence.

For Revenue Services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex-

ceeding one hundred and seventy pounds.

For Administration of Justice, a sum not exceeding three hundred

and seventy pounds.

For Ecclesiastical Services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not

exceeding fifty pounds.

For Charitable Allowances, a sum not exceeding one hundred and

ten pounds .

For Education, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

one hundred and fifty pounds.

For Hospitals, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not exceeding

four hundred and sixty pounds.

For Police and Gaols, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not

ex-

ceeding one thousand six hundred and ninety pounds.

For Rentof Offices, a sum not exceeding one hundred and forty-

five pounds.

For Transport and Travelling Expenses. a sum not exceeding two

hundred and twenty pounds.

For conveyance of Mails, a sum not exceeding four hundred and

fifty pounds.

For Works and Buildings, a sum not exceeding five thousand and

sixty pounds.

For Roads, Streets, and Bridges, a sum not exceeding one thou-

sand pounds.

For Miscellaneous Services, a sum not exceeding one hundred and

forty pounds.

For the Surveyor General's Department, exclusive of Establish-

ments, a sum not exceeding Ten Pounds;

For Aborigines, a sum not exceeding four hundred and ninety-five

pounds.

For the Harbour Master, a sum not exceeding seven hundred and

twenty pounds.

For Payment of Debts, a sum not exceeding one thousand

poun ds. head of expenditure respectively in the Schedule hereunto annexed.

II. AN]) be it enacted, that the Colonial Treasurer shall issue

and pay from time to time any sum or sums of money for the pur-

poses hereinhefore mentioned, to such persons and in such portions, as the Governor for the time being shall, by any order or orders in writing signed by him, from time to time direct, and the said Treasurer shall iu his accounts, be allowed credit for all sums paid to him in pur- suance of such orders accordingly ; and the receipt or receipts of the person or persons to whom such sums shall have been so paid shall be to the said Treasurer a full discharge for the sum or sums for which the same receipt or receipts shall have been respectively given, and the amounts thereof respectively shall be passed to his credit in account accordingly.
