No. I.

An Ordinance to provide for the payment of certain unforeseen expenses during the Year 1851.

HEREAS it is necessary to provide for the payment of

certain unforeseen expenses of the present year 1851, for

which no provision was made in the Ordinance for that year ;—Be it

therefore enacted, by His Excellency the Governor of Western Aus-

tralia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the

Legislative Council thereof, that out of the Revenue of the colony

there shall and may he issued and applied to defray the supplemen- tary charge for the service of the year ending on the 3 lst day of December, 185], and not provided fir in the Ordinance of that year, a sum not exceeding £8,897 5s. 8d., in the manner following; that is to say :-

For the expenditure of the Civil Establishment, a sum not exceed- ing one thousand two hundred and seventy- nine pounds, six shil- lings.

For Revenue Services, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex• ceeding sixty-five pounds.

For Administration of Justice, a sum not exceeding ten pounds.

For the Ecclesiastical Department, exclusive of Establishments, a

sum not exceeding thirty pounds.

For Charitable Allowances, a sum not exceeding ten pounds.

For Hospitals, exclusive of Establishments a sum not exceeding

forty pounds.

For Police and Gaols, exclusive of Establishments, a sum not ex- ceeding seven hundred and forty-three pounds.

For Transport, a sum not exceeding fifteen pounds.

For Works and Buildings, a sum not exceeding two thousand five hundred and eighty-six pounds.

For Roads and Bridges, a sum not exceeding six hundred and ten pounds.

For Miscellaneous Services, a sum not exceeding one thousand and fifty-five pounds.

For the Harbour Master's Department, a sum not exceeding two hundred and ten pounds.

For payment of Debts and Debentures, a sum not exceeding one thousand six hundred pounds.

For Immigration Services, a sum not exceeding three hundred and sixty pounds.

or Advances to the Agent-general for the Colonies, a sum not ex- ceeding two hundred and eighty-three pounds, nineteen shillings and

eight pence. head of expenditure respectively in the Schedule hereunto annexed.

II. AND be it enacted, that the Colonial Treasurer shall issue and pay from time to time any sum or sums of money for the purposes hereinbefore mentioned, not exceeding in the whole the sums respectively in that behalf hereinbefore specified, to such persons and

in such portions, as the Governor for the time being shall, by any order or orders in writing, signed by him, from time to time direct, and the said Treasurer shall, in his accounts, be allowed credit for all sums paid by him in pursuance of such orders accordingly ; and the receipts of the persons to whom such sums shall have been so paid shall be to him a full discharge for the sum or sums for which the same receipts shall have been respectively given, and the amount thereof shall be passed to his credit in account accordingly,
