An Act for applying certain sums arising from the Revenue receivable in New South Wales to the Service thereof for the Year One thou­ sand eight hundred and forty-four and for further appropriat ing the said revenue. [21st

WH E R E A S s ix th year of t h e re ign of H e r p resen t Majesty Queen Victoria
by a cer ta in A c t of P a r l i a m e n t passed in t h e fifth and
in t i tu led " An Act for the Government of New South Wales and Van,

Diemen's Land" it was a m o n g other t h ings enacted t h a t t h e Governor of t he said Colony of N e w South W a l e s w i th t h e advice and consent of t he Legis la t ive Counci l should have au thor i ty to m a k e laws for t h e peace welfare and good government of t he said Colony and t h a t w i t h t h e deduct ions and subject to t h e provisions t h e r e i n con­ ta ined t h e whole of H e r Majes ty ' s Revenue wi th in t he said Colony ar is ing from taxes dut ies ra tes and imposts levied on H e r Majesty 's subjects wi th in t h e said Colony should be appropr ia ted to t h e publ ic service wi th in t he said Colony by Ordinances to be for t h a t purpose, enacted by t h e Governor wi th t h e advice a n d consent of t he Legislat ive Counci l of t he said Colony and in no other m a n n e r Be i t therefore enacted b y H i s Excel lency the Governor of N e w South Wales witli t h e advice and consent of t h e Legis la t ive Council thereof T h a t out of

H e n r y Fowler in considerat ion of serious personal in jury sustained by h im from wounds received in t he cap ture of bush range r s and any s u m or sums of money not exceeding two thousand five hundred pounds to defray t h e wages of distressed Mechanics and Laborers employed by Governmen t agree- ably to t h e Reso lu t ion of t h e said Legis la t ive Council adopted on t h e th i rd day of October one t housand e ight h u n d r e d and for ty- three a n d any s u m or sums of money not exceeding one thousand pounds to defray t h e cost of conveying a n u m b e r of t h e unemployed mar r i ed

laborers in Sydney to t h e Coun t ry Dis t r ic ts conformably to the
Resolut ions of the said Legislat ive Council adopted on the fifteenth

12. A n d be it declared and enacted Tha t t h e Treasurer of the said Colony shal l issue and pay the said several sums to such persons for the purposes hereinbefore ment ioned upon such days and in such propor t ions as t h e Governor for t he t i m e being by any w a r r a n t or order in wr i t ing to be signed by h i m shall from t ime to t ime order and direct a n d t h a t t h e p a y m e n t s so to be made shall be charged upon and payable out of t h e Revenues of t he said Colony.

13 . A n d be i t enacted Tha t t h e said Treasurer shall in his Accounts from t ime to t ime be allowed credit for any sum or sums of money paid by h im in pur suance of such w a r r a n t or order in wr i t ing as aforesaid and tha t t h e receipt or receipts of t h e respective persons

to w h o m the same shal l be so paid shal l be a full and valid discharge to t he said Treasurer in pass ing his said Accoun t s for any such s u m or sums as shall be there in ment ioned and t h a t he shall and do receive credit for t h e same accordingly.
