Act No. 30, 1985.

An Act to amend the Apprenticeship Act, 1981, with respect to the

membership and procedure of the New South Wales Apprenticeship

Council. [Assented to, 26th April, 1985.]
Apprenticeship (Amendment) 1985

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the "Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act,

1985".

Amendment of Act No. 80, 1981.

  1. The Apprenticeship Act, 1981, is amended in the manner set forth in

Schedule 1.

(Sec. 2.)

AMENDMENTS TO THE APPRENTICESHIP ACT, 1981.

(1) Schedule 1, clause 1 (1)—

Omit "11" , insert instead "14".

(2) Schedule 1, clause 1(1) (c)—

Omit "4", insert instead "5" .

(3) Schedule 1, clause 1(1) (d)—

Omit "4", insert instead " 5 " .

(4) Schedule 1, clause 1(1) (d)—

Omit "and".

(5) Schedule 1, clause 1(1) (f)—

At the end of clause 1(1) (e), insert:—

; and

(0 one shall be a woman (being a woman who is not an employee of a government department or statutory authority or a registered member of an industrial union of employers or employees) who shall, on the nomination of the Minister, be appointed by the Governor as a representative of women.

(6) Schedule 1, clause 1 (1A)—

After clause 1(1), insert:—

(IA) Nothing in subclause (1) prevents the appointment of a

woman as a member of the Council pursuant to the provisions of

paragraph (a), (b), (c), (d) or (e) of that subclause.

(7) Schedule 1, clause 2 (4)—

After clause 2 (3), insert:—

(4) The member of the Council referred to in clause 1 (1) (f) may

nominate a woman to act for her as her deputy in the case of her illness or in her absence from a meeting of the Council and any
deputy so nominated, while so acting, shall have and may exercise
the functions conferred or imposed as a member of the Council upon

the member for whom she acts.

(8) Schedule 1, clause 5 (2)—

After "the vacancy,", insert "being a person who possesses the same qualifications, if any, as the member whose office the person fills,".

(9) Schedule 1, clause 6—

Omit "Six", insert instead "Seven".
