125 ( wgnslttt4 ANNO VICESIMO PRIMO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 18 of 1972 An Act to Amend the Apprenticeship Act 1964-1971 in certain particulars [ASSENTED TO 19TH DECEMBER, 1972] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Oueensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Apprenticeship Act Amendment Act 1972. (2) The Apprenticeship Act 1964-1971 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Apprenticeship Act 1964-1972.
126 Apprenticeship Act Amendment Act 1972, No. 18 2. Amendment of s. 4 . Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsection (4) and inserting in its stead the following subsection :- " (4) The Governor in Council may from time to time by Order in Council amend the Schedule by- (a) omitting from column 1 any industry and from column 2 any calling specified in relation to the industry omitted; (b) inserting in or adding to column 1 and column 2 respectively any industry or calling in that industry; (c) altering or varying in column 1 the name of any industry and altering or varying in column 2 the name of any calling; (d) in respect of any industry specified in column 1, omitting from, inserting in or adding to column 2 any calling, or altering or varying in column 2 the name of any calling. Subject to this Act, the Schedule as amended pursuant to this subsection becomes and is the Schedule for the time being and has force and effect accordingly.". 3. Amendment of s, 23. Section 23 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsections (2), (3), (4) and (5) and inserting in their stead the following subsections:- " (2) The standard of education indicated by a letter in column 3 of the Schedule set out opposite and relative to each calling is the standard of education set against each such letter respectively at the beginning of the Schedule. (3) The power of the Governor in Council pursuant to this Act to amend the Schedule includes power to- (a) amend the standard of education set against a letter at the beginning of the Schedule; (b) substitute for the standard of education set against a letter at the beginning of the Schedule another standard of education; (c) add to the standards of education set against their respective letters at the beginning of the Schedule other standards of education and assign to such additional standards in each case a letter against which the additional standard is set. (4) The power of the Governor in Council pursuant to this Act to amend the Schedule includes power to amend column 3 thereof by- (a) indicating in that column by the appropriate letter the minimum standard of education for any calling inserted in or added to column 2 of the Schedule; (b) substituting in that column for the letter indicating the minimum standard of education for any calling specified in column 2 the appropriate letter for some other minimum standard of education in respect of that calling. (5) Subject to this Act, the Schedule as amended pursuant to this section becomes and is the Schedule for the time being and has force and effect accordingly.".
Apprenticeship Act Amendment Act 1972, No. 18 127 4. Repeal of and new Schedule . The Principal Act is amended by repealing the Schedule and inserting in its stead the following:- SCHEDULE [ss. 4, 23] MINIMUM STANDARDS OF EDUCATION A-A rating of " 3 " or more in English or English Expression, one Science subject and one Mathematics subject at Junior Certificate level.
