REGULATIONS UNDER THE APPLE AND PEAR ORGANIZATION ACT 1938-1948.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Apple and Pear Organization Act 1938-1948.

Apple and PeaR Organization (Fees and Expenses) Regulations.

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Apple and Pear Organization (Fees and Expenses) Regulations.

Commencement.

2. These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of July, 1949.

Repeal

3. Part III. of the Apple and Pear Organization Regulations is repealed.

Definitions.

4. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—

“ member ” means a member of the Board and includes a deputy of a member while acting as such ;

“ the Chairman ” means the Chairman of the Board.

Application of Regulations.

5. These Regulations shall not apply to a member who is a member of the Parliament of the Commonwealth or of a State.

Salaries and fees of Chairman and members.

6.—(1.) The Chairman shall, subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, be entitled to receive salary at the rate of One thousand six hundred pounds per annum.

(2.) If the Chairman is also Chairman of the Australian Apple and Pear Marketing Board constituted under the National Security (Apple and Pear Acquisition) Regulations, the amount of the salary to which he is entitled under these Regulations in respect of any period shall be reduced by the amount of any salary or fees received by him in respect of that period under the first-mentioned Regulations.

(3.) The member appointed to represent employees engaged in the apple and pear industry shall be entitled to receive a salary at the rate of Three hundred pounds per annum.

(4.) Each member and deputy (other than the Chairman and the member referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation) shall be entitled to receive a fee of Four pounds four shillings for each day on which he—

(a) attends a meeting of the Board or of the Executive Committee of the Board ; or

(b) is engaged on such business of the Board as the Board determines.

(5.) A member or deputy shall not be entitled to receive a fee under paragraph (b)of the last preceding sub-regulation in respect of the day upon which he attends a meeting of the Board or of the Executive Committee of the Board.

Travelling expenses.

7.—(1.) Where a member or deputy is necessarily absent from his home overnight in connexion with his attendance at a meeting of the Board or of the Executive Committee of the Board or while he is engaged on such business of the Board as the Board determines, he shall be entitled to receive an allowance at the rate of Two pounds two shillings per day in respect of his expenses while so absent.

(2.) In addition to the allowance referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation, a member or deputy shall be reimbursed with fares actually and necessarily paid by him in travelling from his place of residence to the place where the meeting is held or the business is transacted and in returning from that place to his place of residence.
