His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has approved the following By-law made by The Trustees of the Anzac Memorial Building under the Anzac

Memorial (Building) Act 1923.

Explanatory note

The objects of this By-law are the following:

(a) to ensure the By-laws apply to the land of which The Trustees of the Anzac Memorial Building (the

trustees) have general control and management,

(b) to allow persons to bring an assistance animal onto the land managed by the trustees,
(c) to make it an offence for persons to sit or lie on the steps of the Memorial Building.

This By-law is made under the Anzac Memorial (Building) Act 1923, including section 9.

1      Name of By-law

This By-law is the Anzac Memorial (Building) Amendment By-law 2018.

2      Commencement

This By-law commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment to of Anzac Memorial (Building) By-laws 1937

(1) By-law 1

Omit the definition of Dedicated area. Insert instead:

Dedicated area means the land described in the Schedule to the Act,

including all buildings, structures and improvements on that land.

(2) By-law 14
Omit the by-law. Insert instead:

A person must not bring an animal within the dedicated area unless the person has a disability and the animal is an assistance animal that is being used by the person.

Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.

(2) In this by-law:
assistance animal has the same meaning as in the Disability
Discrimination Act 1992 of the Commonwealth.
disability has the same meaning as in the Disability Discrimination Act
1992 of the Commonwealth.
(3) By-law 14A
Insert after by-law 14:
14A A person must not sit or lie on the steps of the Memorial Building.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.
