B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. This Act may be cited as "The Anzac Day Act Short title Of 1921." 2. (1.) In commemoration of the part taken by Anzac Day ,i r JU'D1 Queensland troops in the Great War, and in memory of ! ~ t7~ n~ 1 . those who gave their lives for the Empire, the twenty- holiday. fifth day of April in each year (being the anniversary of /W{l" t-. the first landing of English, Australian, and New Zealanc1 v fV';cJ- S, troops on Gallipoli) shall be known as "Anzac Day," l and shall be observed throughout Q,ueensland ae a. holiday. (2.) In the Schedule to *" The Holidays Act of 1912," Amendment before the words "The first day of May (Labour Day)" ~ o~ i; .~o. v. the words "The twenty-fifth day of April (Anzac Day)" are inserted. (3.) The following amendments are made in t" The Liquor Act of 1912":- (a) In subsection two of section eighty-one, after A,!llendment the words "Good Friday" where they twice occur the ~ o~ ~~o. v. words" Anzac Day" are respectively inserted. (b) In section eighty-seven, after the words "Good Friday" the words" Anzac Day" are inserted. (c) In subsection one of section one hundred and forty-seven, after the words "Good Friday" where they twice occur the words "Anzac Day" are respectively inserted. 9698 HOLIDAYS.-INCOME TAX. Income Tax Act Amendment Act. 12 GEO. V. No. 19, (4.) After the passing of this Act- (a) The Home Secretary shall not grant a permit under *" The Totalisator Restriction Act of 1889" or any Act amending or in substitution for that Act to any racing club to use a totalisator at any horse-racing meeting pro- posed to be held on Anzac Day; (b) No racing club within the meaning of the last-mentioned Act shall hold or conduct any horse~ racing meeting on Anzac Day; and for any contravention of this provision the secretary and all the members of the com- mittee or executive body of such racing club shall jointly and severally be liable to a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds, to be recovered upon complaint in a summary way under t" The J'usticcs Acts, 1886 to 1909," or in lieu of proceeding for such penalty the Home Secretary may refuse to grant to such club any permit to use the totalisator under *"The Totalisator Restriction Act of 1889" for such period as he thinks proper.
