AN ACT relating to the Observance of Anzac Day.

[Assented to 15th December, 1923.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, byCouncil and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, inand with the advice and consent of the Legislative

this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of

the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the Anzac Day Act, 1923.

3. (1.) No license shall be granted under the Racing Re-

Any such license granted contrary to this Act shall be

void.

(2.) It shall be unlawful for any racing club or person to hold or conduct any race meeting on Anzac Day.

For any contravention of the provisions of this subsec- tion, the secretary and all the members of the committee or executive body of such racing club, and any other person so offending, shall jointly and severally be liable to a penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds.

In this Act—

Interpretation.

"Anzac Day" means the twenty-fifth day of April in each

year.

"Racing club" means any club, company, or association,.

incorporated or otherwise, formed for the purpose of

promoting horse-racing or trotting racing.

"Race meeting" means any meeting of persons for the

purpose of horse-racing or trotting racing.
