CaseChat Overview and Summary
The legal issues central to this review involved determining the appropriate methodology for assessing economic factors, interpreting relevant data, and setting wage levels that would adequately balance the needs of employers and employees while maintaining fairness and sustainability in the labour market. The Commission needed to consider submissions from various stakeholders, including employers, employees, and industry representatives, to inform its decisions.
The Commission outlined a draft timetable for the review process, which included deadlines for submissions, consultations, and final decisions. The proposed schedule was designed to ensure a thorough and transparent review process, allowing for adequate time to consider all relevant submissions and data. The Commission invited public comments on the draft timetable, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder engagement in shaping the final review process.
In summary, the Fair Work Commission provided a detailed draft timetable for the Annual Wage Review 2023–24, inviting public submissions and consultations to inform its final decisions on modern award minimum wages and the national minimum wage order.
