The object of this Regulation is to require a Department to include in its 1997-1998 to 1999-2000 annual reports information on the Department's activities in relation to the Year 2000 Millennium Bug (that is, problems associated with the use in computer programs of a two digit year code rather than a four digit century/year code).

This Regulation is made under the Annual Reports (Departments) Act 1985,

including sections 11 and 20 (the general regulation-making power).

years, a statement setting out the
following:

the scope and status of the
Department's Year 2000
project,
any proposal to develop
contingency plans to ensure
the continued operation of
the Department's critical
business functions,
any proposal to obtain
independent verification of
the Department's Year 2000

compliance strategies.

the estimated total cost of
the Department's Year 2000
project.
