Animal Welfare (Transport, Saleyards and

Depots) (Cattle and Sheep) Amendment

Regulations 2020

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.             Citation

These regulations are the Animal Welfare (Transport, Saleyards and Depots) (Cattle and Sheep) Amendment Regulations 2020.

2.             Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows —

(a) regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these

regulations are published in the Gazette;

(b) the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3.             Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Animal Welfare (Transport,
Saleyards and Depots) (Cattle and Sheep) Regulations 2020.

4.             Regulation 33 amended

After regulation 33(3) insert:

(4) In the case of a charge under subregulation (2) against a livestock transporter, it is a defence to the charge for a person to prove that the livestock transporter took all reasonable steps to ensure that the livestock animal was assessed, immediately before it was loaded, to

determine whether it was unfit to undertake a journey.
