His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following
Regulation under the Animal Research Act 1985.

Explanatory note
The objects of this Regulation are as follows:
| (a) | to require the holders of animal research authorities and certain accredited research establishments to include, in their annual report on their work and activities, certain information as to how domestic dogs and cats used for research purposes have been dealt with in the reporting period, |
| (b) | to clarify that it is an offence to fail to send the report to the Secretary of the Department of Industry in the approved form, |
| (c) | to update references to “the Catholic Education Commission NSW” to “Catholic Schools NSW Limited”, and references to “Director-General” to “Secretary”. |
This Regulation is made under section 62 of the Animal Research Act 1985 (the general regulation-making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Animal Research Amendment (Reporting Requirements)
Regulation 2018.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.
3 Amendment of Animal Research Regulation 2010
(1) Whole Regulation
Omit “Director-General” wherever occurring. Insert instead “Secretary”.
(2) Clauses 5 (f), 15 (2) (b) and 18 (b) Omit “the Catholic Education Commission NSW” wherever occurring. Insert instead “Catholic Schools NSW Limited”. (3) Clause 24 Reporting requirements Insert “in the approved form” after “send a report” in clause 24 (2). (4) Clause 24 (4) Omit the subclause. Insert instead:
(4) In the case of a domestic dog or a domestic cat used in connection with animal research, the report must include information as to whether the animal has been retained for that use or whether it has been dealt with in some other way (including, for example, whether it has been euthanased or rehomed).
