ANIMAL RESEARCH ACT 1985—REGULATION

(Updating references to the Director-General of the Department of

Agriculture)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Animal Research Act 1985, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on the 27th March, 1992.

Amendment

2. The Animal Research Regulation 1990 is amended:

(a) by omitting from clauses 3, 11 (2), 14, 15, 18 (5) and 25 (2) the word “Secretary” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the word “Director-General”;
(b) by inserting in clause 3, in alphabetical order, the following

definition:

“Director-General” means the Director-General of the

Department of Agriculture;

(c)

by omitting from clauses 37 (2) and 42 of the Code of Practice set out in Schedule 1 the word “Secretary” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the word “Director-General”;

(d)

by omitting from Form 1 in Schedule 2 the words “Secretary of the Department of Local Government” and by inserting instead the words “Director-General of the Department of Agriculture”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Amendments to the Animal Research Act 1985 contained in the Statute Law

(Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (No. 2) 1991 provide for the Director—General of
the Department of Agriculture to take over the functions of the Director—General of
the Department of Local Government and Co-operatives under the Animal Research Act 1985. The object of this Regulation is to update references in the

Animal Research Regulation 1990 as a consequence of those amendments.
