Animal Diseases (Amendment) Act 1997

An Act to amend the Animal Diseases Act 1993 and for a related purpose

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Animal Diseases (Amendment) Act 1997.
Commencement
2. This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the Gazette.
Principal Act
3. In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Animal Diseases Act 1993.1
Interpretation
4. Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the definition of “animal” and substituting the following definition:
“ ‘animal’ includes—
(a)a vertebrate and an invertebrate;
(b)a carcass of an animal; and
(c)an egg, embryo, ovum or sperm, or other product, of an animal from which another animal could be produced;
but does not include a human being;”.
Repeal of Apiaries Act 1928
5. The Apiaries Act 1928 is repealed.
