Regulations under the Weights and Measures Ordinance

1929-1973.*

Ordinance 1929-1973.

A M E N D M E N T S OF THE WEIGHTS AND MEASURES REGULATioNst

1 . Regulation 2 of the Weights and Measures Regulations is amended by

inserting after paragraph (e ) the following paragraph:—

" (ea) The regulations shall be read as if, after regulation 6 in Part IV, the

following regulations were inserted:—

' 6A. A fee specified in paragraph 1 (a ) ( i ) or 1 (b) ( i ) of

Table XI opposite a measure of length includes the fee for the verification of subdivisions of that measure.

' 6 B . ( 1 ) A fee specified in paragraph 1 (a) ( iv) or 1 (b) (v ) of

Table XI opposite to a liquid measure does not include the fee for the verification of subdivisions of that measure.

In the case of a liquid measure that is fitted to or forms part

of a vehicle and is subdivided by means of graduations on a
dip-stick—

' ( 2 )

(a)

subject to paragraph (b), an additional fee equal to the fee specified in paragraph 1 (a) ( iv) or 1 (b) (v ) of Table XI opposite to the capacity of the measure is payable in respect of each verification of the subdivisions of the measure; and

(b)

where more than 10 measures of the same denomination are tested at the same time and place for the same owner, the fee payable in respect of each measure in excess of 10 is one- half of the fee specified in paragraph 1 (a) ( iv) or 1 (b) ( v ) ,

as the case requires, of that table opposite to the capacity of
the measure.

' ( 3 ) In the case of any other liquid measure, an additional fee equal to one-half of the fee specified in paragraph 1 (a ) ( iv) or 1 (b) (v ) of Table XI opposite to the capacity of the measure is payable in respect of each verification of the subdivisions of the measure.

' ( 4 ) Where, under this regulation, the calculation of a fee pay­ able involves a fraction of a cent, the fraction of the cent shall be charged as one cent.

' 6c. The fee payable for testing, verifying or stamping a metric weighing or measuring instrument is the same as the fee payable, in accordance with sub-clause 1 (e ) of Table XI , for testing, verifying or stamping a weighing or measuring instrument of corresponding capacity denominated in units relating to the yard, the pound or the gallon.

' 6D. The fee payable in accordance with clause 4 of Table XI for the adjustment of a weight, measure or instrument is payable in addition to the fee payable in accordance with clause 1, 2 or 3, as the case requires, of Table XI for the verification of that instrument.' ".

2. The Weights and Measures Regulations are amended by omitting the Schedule

and substituting the following Schedule:—
