Amendments of the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations (ACT)

Regulations under the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936*

I, ROBERT JAMES ELLICOTT, the Minister of State for the Capital Territory, hereby make the following Regulations under the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936.

AMENDMENTS OF THE TAXI AND PRIVATE HIRE CAR

REGULATIONS!

1. Regulation 8 of the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations is

repealed.
2. Regulation 18 of the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations is
amended by omitting from paragraph (1) (c) " or a part of a journey ".

3. Regulation 19 of the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (3) "undertaken" and sub­ stituting " commenced ".

4. Regulation 19A of the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1A) "undertaken" and substituting " commenced ".

5. Regulation 19B of the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations is

amended—

1970, No. 5; 1972, No. 4; 1974, No. 11; 1975, Nos. 24 and 29; and 1977, No. 3.

(a)	by omitting from sub-regulation (1) "undertaken" and substituting " commenced"; and
(b)	by omitting from sub-regulation (3) "undertaken" and substituting " commenced ".

6. Regulation 24 of the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations is

amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) "45" and substitut­ ing " 50" ;

(b) by omitting sub-regulations (3) and (3A) and substituting the following sub-regulations:

" (3) Where on a journey referred to in sub-regulation (1) a taxi is not the subject of a multiple hiring, the kilometre rate for the journey is—

(a) where the journey commenced on—

(i) a Saturday;
(ii) a Sunday;

(iii)   a day that is observed as a public holiday in the Territory in accordance with the Holidays Ordinance 1958; or

(iv)   any other day before 7 o'clock in the morn­ ing or after 7 o'clock in the evening—

a rate of 32 cents for each kilometre travelled by

the taxi on the journey; and

(b) in any other case—a rate of 27 cents for each kilometre travelled by the taxi on the journey.

" (3A) Where on a journey referred to in sub-regulation (1) a taxi is the subject of a multiple hiring, the kilometre rate for the journey is—

(a) where the journey commenced at a time referred to in paragraph (3) ( a ) — a rate of 24 cents for each kilometre travelled by the taxi on the journey; and

(b) in any other case—a rate of 20 cents for each kilometre travelled by the taxi on the journey.";

(c)	by omitting from paragraph (4A) (a) " 28 " and substi­ tuting " 32 "; and
(d)	by omitting from sub-regulation (6) " 5" and "30
seconds" and substituting " 1 2 " and " m i n u t e "

respectively.

7. Schedule 2 to the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations is

repealed and the following Schedule substituted:
