Regulations under the Public Health Ordinance 1928-1966.*

, make the following Regulations under the Public Health Ordinance 1928-

A M E N D M E N T S OF THE PUBLIC H E A L T H ( G E N E R A L SANITATION) REGULATIONS!

1 . Regulation 5 of the Public Health (General Sanitation) Regulations is

a m e n d e d —

(a)

by omitting the words " any refuse to be conveyed " and inserting in their stead the words " to be conveyed, any refuse "; and

(/>) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulat ions:—

" (2 . ) A person shall not, in a place other than a place referred to in paragraph (b) of regulation 18 of these Regulations, carry night-soil except in a receptacle so enclosed as to prevent the night- soil from falling or being spilt from the receptacle.

" (3 .) If night-soil falls or is spilt from a receptacle in which it is being carried, the person carrying it is guilty of an offence against these Regulations unless he proves that the falling or spilling of the night-soil was due to circumstances beyond his control.

" (4 . ) A person shall not convey or cause to be conveyed night- soil in a vehicle—

(«) except in a receptacle so enclosed as to prevent the night-

soil from falling or being spilt from the receptacle; and

(b)

unless the vehicle is so fitted as to prevent the receptacle containing the night-soil from falling from the vehicle.

" (5 . ) If, in a place other than a place referred to in paragraph

(b) of regulation 18 of these Regulations—
(a) night-soil falls or is spilt from a vehicle in which it is being conveyed; or
(b) a receptacle containing night-soil falls from a vehicle in which it is being conveyed,

the driver of the vehicle is guilty of an offence against these Regula­ tions unless he proves that the falling or spilling was due to circum­ stances beyond his control ." .

a m e n d e d —

(a) by omitting the words " and shall, upon conviction, be liable to a penalty not exceeding Fifty pounds , " and inserting in their stead the words " and a person who is guilty of an offence against these Regulations is, upon conviction, liable to a penalty not exceeding One hundred dollars "; and
(b) by omitting the words " O n e pound " and inserting in their stead the words " T w o dollars ".
