Regulations under the Public Health Ordinance

1928-1930.

*-, Health, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the Public Health Ordinance 1928-1930, hereby make the following Regulations.

A M E N D M E N T S OE T H E P U B L I C H E A L T H ( D A I R Y )

R E G U L A T I O N S .

1. Regulation 9 of the Public Health (Dai ry) Regulations is Kegi8tration of

amended— dalry herds-

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words " o r kept

for household use " ; and

(b) by inserting after that sub-regulation the following sub-

regulation :—

" ( 1 A . ) The owner of a dairy cow or dairy herd kept for the production of milk or cream for household use shall, within fourteen days after the purchase of the cow or the establishment of the herd, apply to the Director- General in accordance with Form C in the First Schedule for the registration of the cow or herd.".

2. Regulation 18 of the Public Health (Dairy) Regulations is

repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

"18 .—(1. ) Where an authorized veterinary officer suspects that any Notice by
animal in a registered dairy herd on registered dairy premises is oJ^er"*^
affected with any disease or abnormal condition which is likely to diseases, &c.
affect the quality of the milk, he may, by notice in writing to the
dairyman—

(a.) prohibit, for such period as is specified in the notice, the use for any purpose of milk from the animal, and renew- any such prohibit ion:

Provided that an authorized veterinary officer may

permit the use of the milk, after such treatment (if any)

poultry; as the officer directs, for feeding of calves or pigs or

s (b) order the isolation of the animal for such period as is

specified in the notice;

(c) order the destruction of the animal ; or

(d) order the animal to be disposed of in such manner as is

specified in the notice.

(2.) Where an authorized veterinary officer orders the destruction of an animal suspected of being affected with tuberculosis or contagious abortion, the provisions of regulations 14_and 15 of these Regulations with respect to compensation shall apply in relation to the destruction of the animal.".

Depasturing 3. Regulation 19 of the Public Health (Dairy) Regulations is
of cattle. amended by omitting the words " A dairyman " and inserting in their
stead the words " The owner of any dairy cow or dairy herd ".
Feeding of
cattle. 4. Regulation 20 of the Public Health (Dairy) Regulations is

amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulatiou (1.) the words " A dairy- man " and inserting in their stead the words " The owner of any dairy cow or dairy herd " ;
(b) by inserting in sub-regulation (2.) , after the word

" p r e m i s e s " (first occurring), the words " o f the owner

of any dairy cow or dairy herd " ; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the word " d a i r y m a n "

and inserting in its stead the words " owner of the dairy

cow or dairy herd ".

Treatment of 5. Regulation 33 of the Public Health (Dairy) Regulations '•~^^
samples. amended— ^ H
(a) by inserting in paragraph ( a ) , after the word " t w o " , the

words " or more " ; and

(b) by omitting from paragraph (/)) the word " b o t t l e "

(wherever occurring) and inserting in its stead the word

" container ".

6. The Firs t Schedule to the Public Health (Dairy) Regulations is amended by omitting Form C and inserting in its stead the following Form:—
