Amendments of the Public Health (Boarding-houses) Regulations (ACT)

Regulations under the Public Health Ordinance 1928.*
I, RALPH JAMES DUNNET HUNT, the Minister of State for Health, hereby make the following Regulations under the Public Health Ordinance 1928.

AMENDMENTS OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH (BOARDING-HOUSES) REGULATIONSt
1 . Regulation 2 of the Public Health (Boarding-houses) Regulations is
repealed.
2 . Regulation 6 of the Public Health (Boarding-houses) Regulations is
amended—
(a)
by omitting from paragraph (c) the words " four feet" and sub stituting the figures and word " 1,200 millimetres";
(b)
by omitting from paragraph (d) the words " three feet six inches " and substituting the figures and word " 1,050 millimetres";
(c)
by omitting from sub-paragraph (d) (i) the words " six and one-half inches" and substituting the figures and word "165 millimetres";
(d)
by omitting from sub-paragraph (d) (ii) the words "ten inches" and substituting the figures and word " 255 millimetres "; and
(e)
by omitting from paragraph (e) the words " two feet eight inches " and substituting the words " not less than 865 millimetres ".
3 . Regulation 7 of the Public Health (Boarding-houses) Regulations is
amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2) the words " two inches" and sub
stituting the figures and word " 50 millimetres ".
4 . Regulation 8 of the Public Health (Boarding-houses) Regulations is

amended by omitting sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following sub-
regulations:—
" ( 1 ) The proprietor shall not suffer or permit—
(a)
subject to paragraph (b), a boarder of or above the age of 7 years to occupy a bedroom unless the room has floor space of at least 12 square metres; or
(b)
more than 1 boarder of or above the age of 7 years to occupy a bedroom at the same time unless the room has floor space cal culated at the rate of—
(i) 12 square metres for the first boarder; and
(ii) 3 square metres for each subsequent boarder.

" (1A) The proprietor shall not suffer or permit a member of his family
to occupy a bedroom already used as a bedroom by more than 1 boarder.".
5. Regulation 9 of the Public Health (Boarding-houses) Regulations is
amended by adding at the end thereof the words " and having a minimum ceiling
height of 2,400 millimetres ".6. Regulation 11 of the Public Health (Boarding-houses) Regulations is amended by omitting the words " one square foot of glass to each ten square feet of floor area " and substituting the words " 1 square metre of glass to each 10 square metres of floor area ".
