AMENDMENTS OF THE POLICE REGULATIONS.t
1. Regulation 2 of the Police Regulations is amended by omitting the interpretation,
definition of " Member of the Police Force " and inserting in its stead the
following definition:—
" ' member of the Police Force ' means an officer, sergeant or
constable of the Police Force; ".
2. Regulation 5 of the Police Regulations is amended by omitting the Authority of
words "Any sergeants and constables" and inserting in their stead the PoUce^orce"16 rds "Any sergeants and constables" anc words " The members of the Police Force ",
3. Regulations 6, 7 and 8 of the Police Regulations are repealed and the following regulation is inserted in their stead:—
"6.—(1.) A member of the Police Force shall not, except with the Performance of
express permission in writing of the Commissioner— therpo0iicelde (a) accept, or continue to hold, or discharge the duties of, or be employed in, a paid office in connexion with any business, whether carried on by a body corporate, partnership or an individual;
(b) engage in business, whether as a principal or agent;
(c) engage or continue in the private practice of, a profession, occu-pation or trade or enter into employment, whether remunera- tive or not, in a profession, occupation or trade with a body corporate, partnership or individual; or

| » | (d) accept or engage in any remunerative employment other than in connexion with his duties as a member of the Police Force. " (2.) The last preceding sub-section does not prevent a member of the Police Force from becoming a member or shareholder of an incorporated company or of a company or society of persons registered under the law of the Territory or elsewhere, but, except as provided by the next succeed- ing sub-regulation, a member of the Police Force shall not take any part in the conduct of the business of the company or society otherwise than in the exercise of his rights as a member or shareholder of the company or |

" (3.) A member of the Police Force may, with the express approval of the Commissioner, act as a director of a co-operative society which is registered under the law of the Territory or elsewhere and does not enter into contracts for the supply of goods or services to the Commonwealth.
" (4.) The Commissioner may, at any time, withdraw a permission
granted under this regulation.".
Offences 4. Regulation 11 of the Police Regulations is amended by omitting punishable by the paragraphs (a) and (b) of sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in their stead the Commissioner in the first following paragraphs:— instance. " (a) in the case of a constable, impose a penalty not exceeding Five pounds; or
(b) in the case of a member who holds a rank or grade higher than constable, impose a penalty not exceeding Five pounds on reduce the member in rank or grade, with loss of pay, for™ such period not exceeding three months as the Commissioner thinks fit:".
Offences Regulation 11A of the Police Regulations is amended— punishable by the Minister.
(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (1.) the words " an officer or member" and inserting in their stead the words " a member ";
(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (11.) the words "officer or member" (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " member of the Police Force "; and
(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (12.) the words " officer or ". Repeal of Regulations 13, 6. Regulations 13, 14 and 15 of the Police Regulations are repealed. 14 and 15. Unauthorized 7. Regulation 17 of the Police Regulations is amended by omitting the absence. words "under Regulation 15 or the last preceding regulation". Repeal of Regulations 8. Regulations 18, 19 and 20 of the Police Regulations are repealed. 18, 19 and 20.
