Regulations under the Motor Traffic
Ordinance 1936-1951.*

A M E N D M E N T S O F T H E MOTOR T R A F F I C R E G U L A T I O N S .
inserting after the word " registration " the words ", or for the renewal trallnr- 1. Regulation 7 of the Motor Traffic Regulations is amended by Production of of the registration,".
2. Regulation 8 of the Motor Traffic Regulations is amended by Registration in

registration,". company. 3. Regulations 9 and 10 of the Motor Traffic Regulations are
repealed and the following regulations inserted in their stead:—
"9 .— (1 . ) On receipt of an application for the. registration, or Registration
the renewal of the registration, of a trailer, the Registrar may, if satisfied that the requirements prescribed by these Regulations in respect of registration have been complied with, register the trailer or renew the registration of the trailer, as the case may be.

| a trailer, he shall grant to the applicant a certificate of registration in |
" (3.) The period for which the Registrar may register a trailer or
renew the registration of the trailer is— ,,•,,.:
( a ) in the case of an initial registration—a period of twelve 'vVv.i months from and including the date of registration; and
(b) in the case of a renewal of registration—a period of twelve
months from and including the day immediately following
the day on which the initial registration, or the last pre-ceding renewal of registration, expired,
or such lesser period as the Registrar determines.

sub-regulations:—" (1.) Subject to this regulation, a trailer in respect of which a registration fee is prescribed by this regulation shall not be registered, and the registration of a trailer shall not be renewed, unless a registra-** tion fee determined in accordance with this regulation is paid.
" ( 1 A . ) The registration fee for the registration, or the renewal of the registration, of a trailer for a period of twelve months is— V .
(a ) for a trailer which is not let out on hire and is used solely. for social, domestic or pleasure purposes or by a farmer solely for those purposes and for the purpose of carting his own produce—

( i ) if the weight of the trailer is not more than five
hundredweights—Ten shillings; or
( i i ) if the weight of the trailer is more than five hundredweights—One pound, together with On.' pound for each ten hundredweights, or part of ten hundredweights, by which the weight of the trailer exceeds ten hundredweights; and
(/;) for any other trailer—Two shillings and nincpence for each
half-hundredweight of the weight of the trailer.
" ( 1 B . ) The registration fee for the registration, or the renewal of the registration, of a trailer for a period of less than twelve months is an amount equal to the sum of—
(a) Five shillings; and
(b) an amount which hears to the registration fee payable under^M*
the last preceding sub-regulation for the registration of the trailer for a period of twelve months the samr proportion as the period for which the trailer is to be registered, or the registration of the trailer is to be
renewed, bears to twelve months.". A
5. After regulation 11 of the Motor Traffic Regulations the following regulation is inserted :—
Private trailers " I I A A . Where the registration fee paid in respect of a period of not to be used
for business registration of a trailer was determined in accordance with paragraph purposes. (a) of sub-regulation ( 1 A . ) of the last preceding regulation, or in accordance with sub-regulation ( 1 B . ) of that regulation by reference to that paragraph, a person shall not, during that period— (a) use that trailer, or cause, suffer or permit it to be used, for any purpose other than a purpose specified in th;tt paragraph; or
(b) let the trailer out on hire.".

10. The Third Schedule to the Motor Traffic Regulations is Third schedule.

(a) by omitting the third paragraph and inserting in its stead
the following paragraph :—
" That part of Lennox Crossing; adjacent to and on the north- eastern side of tlie Commonwealth Offices, Acton, and that part of Lennox Crossing adjacent to and on the south- western side of the Canberra Community Hospital, Acton.";

11. The Fifth Schedule to the Motor Traffic Regulations is amended Fifth Schedule.
by omitting the word " enamelled " and inserting in its stead the word
•' coloured ".
