Regulations under the Motor Omnibus Services

Ordinance 1955-1973.*

hereby make the following Regulations under the Motor Omnibus Services
Ordinance 1955-1973.

A M E N D M E N T S OF THE MOTOR O M N I B U S FARES REGULATIONS t

1 . Regulation 9 of the Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended by

omitting from sub-regulation (2A) the words " sub-regulation (3.) or (4.) " and
substituting the words "sub-regula t ion 5 (3 ) or 5 (4 ) ".

2.   Regulation 10 of the Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the words "regulation 5 or 6

of these Regulations " and substituting the words " regulation 4, 5,

6 or 9 ";

(b) by omitting paragraphs (c) and (d) of sub-regulation (1) and sub­
stituting the following pa rag raphs :—

" (c ) a blind person and, where the blind person is accompanied by an at tendant, the at tendant;

(d) a school child travelling from his home to school or from

school to his home; or

(e) a member of the Police Force of the Territory, or a person

employed in the Transpor t Section of the Commercial and Transport Operations Branch of the Depar tment of the Capital Terri tory, while travelling on duty or between his home and a place where he performs duty for the purpose of commencing, or immediately after completing, duty.";

(c) by omitting paragraphs (b) and (c) of sub-regulation (2) and
substituting the following pa rag raphs :—

" (b ) in relation to a person referred to in paragraph (b ) of that sub-regulation, unless he produces to the conductor and, if so required by an inspector, to the inspector, written evidence, of a kind approved by the Transport Manager , identifying him as such a person;

(c) in relation to a school child referred to in paragraph (l)(d),

unless he produces to the conductor and, if so required by an inspector, to the inspector, a written authority granted to him by the Transpor t Manager under sub-regulation ( 2 A ) ; or

(d) in relation to a person referred to in paragraph (e) of that

sub-regulation, unless that person is in uniform or produces to the conductor and, if so required by an inspector, to the inspector, writ ten evidence, of a kind approved by the Transpor t Manager , identifying him as such a person."; and

( d ) by inserting after sub-regulation (2) the following sub-regulat ions:—

" (2A ) The Transpor t Manager shall, where he is satisfied that the most direct route between the home and school of a school child is of a distance greater than one mile, grant to that school child, upon request, an authori ty in writing to travel on omnibuses to or from school without payment of fares.

" ( 2 B ) A n authority granted under sub-regulation (2A ) may be expressed to be restricted as to the motor omnibus services on which the school child may be carried, or the periods to which it is applicable, o r both.

" ( 2 c ) Where an authority has been granted to a school child under sub-

regulation ( 2 A ) , the Transpor t Manager may, at any t i m e —

(a)

where he is satisfied that the most direct route between the home and school of the school child is not of a distance greater than one mile , cancel the authority;

( b ) impose any restriction of a kind referred to in sub-regulation ( 2 B ) ; or

(c) vary or cancel any restriction of a kind referred to in sub-regulation ( 2 B ) to which the authori ty is subject.".
