Regulations under the Motor Omnibus Services Ordinance 1955*

I, ROBERT JAMES ELLICOTT, the Minister of State for the Capital Territory, hereby make the following Regulations under the Motor Omnibus Services Ordinance 1955.

AMENDMENTS OF THE MOTOR OMNIBUS FARES

REGULATIONS!

1 . ( 1 ) Regulations 2, 3, 4 and 6 shall come into operation on the

date on which these Regulations are notified in the Gazette.

(2) Regulation 5 shall come into operation on 1 September 1978.

2. Regulation 3 of the Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended by omitting the definitions of " child " and " pensioner ".

3. Regulations 4 and 5 of the Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations are repealed and the following regulation is substituted:

" 4 . (1) In this regulation, ' peak-hour journey' means a journey that commences—

(a) before 9 o'clock in the morning; or
1974, Nos. 1, 7 and 19; 1975, Nos. 1 and 20; 1976, No . 14; and 1977, Nos. 2 and 14.

(b) after 4 o'clock, but before 6 o'clock, in the afternoon,

not being a journey made on a Saturday, a Sunday or a day that is a
public holiday.

" (2) Subject to regulations 6, 9 and 10, the fare to be charged in respect of a journey on an omnibus, not being a peak-hour journey, is the sum calculated by multiplying the sum of 30 cents by the number of sections of which the journey consists.

" (3) Subject to regulations 6, 9 and 10, the fare to be charged

in respect of a journey on an omnibus, being a peak-hour journey, is

the sum calculated by multiplying the sum of 35 cents by the number

of sections of which the journey consists.".

4. Regulation 6 of the Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations is amended

by omitting " 20 cents " and substituting " 15 cents ".

5. Regulations 6AA, 6A and 6c of the Motor Omnibus Fares Regu­

lations are repealed and the following regulations substituted:

" 6A. (1) The price payable for a daily ticket for the purpose of

sub-section 4BA (2) of the Ordinance is $1.30.

" (2) The following classes of persons are prescribed for the pur­

pose of sub-section 4BA (3) of the Ordinance:

(a ) children;

(b) school students;

(c) pensioners.

" (3) The price payable for a daily ticket purchased by a person

included in a class of persons specified in sub-regulation (2) is 70 cents.

" 6 B . (1) The price payable for a monthly ticket, other than a

monthly ticket referred to in sub-section 4c (2A) , is $18.

" (2) The following classes of persons are prescribed for the pur­

pose of sub-section 4c (2A) of the Ordinance:

(a ) children;

(b) school students;

(c) pensioners;

(d)

full-time students attending a course of study or instruc­ tion at a tertiary education institution.

" (3) The price payable for a monthly ticket by a person included

in a class of persons specified in paragraph ( a ) , (b) or (c) of sub-

regulation (2) is $6.

" (4) The price payable for a monthly ticket by a person included

in the class of persons specified in paragraph (2) (d) is $12.
" 6c. The price payable for a quarterly ticket by a person included in any of the classes of persons specified in sub-section 4CB (1) of the Ordinance is $15.".

6. Regulations 6D and 6E of the Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations

are repealed and the following regulation is substituted:

" 6D. (1) For the purpose of sub-section 4CA (2) of the Ordinance,

the prices payable for books of tickets are—

(a) for a book of 10 tickets—$2.60;

(b) for a book of 20 tickets—$5.20; and
(c) for a book of 50 tickets—$13.00.

" (2) The following classes of persons are prescribed for the pur­ pose of sub-section 4CA (3) of the Ordinance:

(a) children;
(b) school students;
(c) pensioners.

" (3) The price payable for a book of tickets purchased by a person included in a class of persons specified in sub-regulation (2) is—

(a) for a book of 10 tickets—$ 1.00;
(b) for a book of 20 tickets—$2.00; and

(c) for a book of 50 tickets—$5.00.".
