Regulations under the Legislative Assembly Ordinance 1936*

I, ANTHONY ALLAN STALEY, the Minister of State for the Capital Territory, hereby make the following Regulations under the Legislative Assembly Ordinance 1936.

AMENDMENTS O F THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY

(ELECTION) REGULATIONSf

1. Regulation 25 of the Legislative Assembly (Election) Regula­ tions is amended—

(a) by inserting after sub-regulation (1) the following sub- regulation:

" (1A ) Notwithstanding sub-regulation ( 1 ) , the Minister may, at any time before 31 December 1978, direct the Returning Officer to cause election to be made before that date of members of the Assembly and shall appoint the dates for the nomination of candidates and for the polling."; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) " The direction " and substituting " A direction ".

2, Regulation 70 of the Legislative Assembly (Election) Regula­ tions is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (3) " o n the fifth day of September next preceding the date of an election " and sub­ stituting " 2 days before the date appointed for the nomination of candidates for an election ".
