Regulations under the Education Ordinance 1937-1952.

1 , for the Interior, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by
the Education Ordinance 1937-1952, hereby make the following
Regulations.

A M E N D M E N T S OF T H E E D U C A T I O N R E G U L A T I O N S . !
1. Regulation 27 of the Education Regulations is amended— Candidates
eligible.

(a ) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (1.) the figures " 756 ", " 836 ", " 916 ", " 996 ", " 1,076 " and " 1 , 1 5 6 " and inserting in their stead the figures " 8 0 0 " , " 880 ", " 960 ", " 1,040 ", " 1,120 " and " 1,200 ", respec- tively; and

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (1.) the
figures " 9 0 6 " , " 9 8 6 " , " 1 , 0 6 6 " , " 1 , 1 4 6 " , " 1 , 2 2 6 " and

" 1,300 " and inserting in their stead the figures " 950 ", " 1 , 0 3 0 " , " 1 , 1 1 0 " , " 1 , 1 9 0 " , " 1 , 2 7 0 " and " 1 , 3 5 0 " , respectively.

2.—(1.) Regulation 31 of the Education Regulations is amended— Nature of

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the figures " £ 0 0 " (first and second occurring) and inserting in their stead the figures " £78 " ;
(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the figures " £ 0 0 " (third occurring) and inserting in their stead the figures " £ 8 4 " ;

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the figures " £ 7 5 " (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the figures " £99 " ;

((/) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the figures " £ 1 8 "

(third occurring) and inserting in their stead the figures

" £ 3 3 " ; and

(e) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the figures " £ 3 6 " (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the figures " £48 ".

(2.) The last preceding sub-regulation shall come into operation on

the first day of September, 1955.

(3.) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Education Regula- tions as in force immediately before the date of commencement of sub- regulation (1.) of this regulation, the payment to be made at the end of the second school term in the year 1955, in respect of a bursary held in that year, shall be—

(a) in the case of a grant for the first or second year's course—
( i ) to a holder who may have to live away from home

in order to attend the school he has selected—£23:

( i i) to a holder who can travel to and from school an!. ™

home daily—£6;

(b) in the case of a grant for the third year's course—

(i) to a holder who may have to live away from home in order to attend the school he has selected— £24; and

(i i) to a holder who can travel to and from school and

home daily—£8 10s.; and

(c) in the case of a grant for the fourth or fifth year's course—
(i) to a holder who may have to live away from home

in order to attend the school he has selected—

£29; and

(i i) to a holder who can travel to and from school and

home daily—£14.
