Regulations under the Cemeteries Ordinance 1933-1942.*

I , the Interior, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the Cemeteries Ordinance 1933-1942, hereby make the following Regulations.

A M E N D M E N T S OF T H E C A N B E R R A P U B L I C C E M E T E R Y R E G U L A T I O N S .
1. Regulation 2 ol the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is Definitions,
amended by inserting after the definition of " g r a v e " the following
definition:—
" lawn burial area " means an area set apart as a lawn burial
area in pursuance of these Regulations; ".
2. Regulation 15 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is 5x£Kre, ...
amended by omitting sub-regulation (5.) and inserting in its stead the '
following sub-regulations:—" (5.) An exclusive right of burial may be transferred or transmitted, and the Trustees shall, upon production to them, within a reasonable time after the transfer or transmission, of—
" (a) the certificate of the exclusive right of bur ia l ; and
(b) proof to their satisfaction of the transfer or transmission,

| t | record the transfer or transmission and note it upon the certificate. |
" ( 5 A . ) The Trustees may refuse to record or note a transfer to a person who is already the holder of an exclusive right of burial.
" ( 5 B . ) A transfer or transmission of an exclusive right of burial shall not confer any rights against the Trustees in respect of the allotment to which the exclusive right relates unless and until it has been noted on the certificate in accordance with sub-regulation (5.) of this regulation.".
3. After regulation 27 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations the following regulation is inserted :—
" 2 7 A . — ( 1 . ) Subject to this regulation, the Trustees may, in their Lawn burial discretion, set apart as a lawn burial area any section of any separate
portion of the Cemetery.

" (2.) The Trustees shall not exercise their powers under the last preceding sub-regulation so as to reduce below a reasonable area the area in any separate portion of the cemetery in which, subject to the provisions of these Regulations, a monument, tablet, gravestone, vault, kerbing, railing or other structure may be erected.
" (3.) A person shall not erect or place in a lawn burial area any monument, tablet, gravestone, kerbing, railing or structure other than a tablet of the standard type approved by the Trustees.".

' is amended by adding at the end thereof the following items:—
" 15. Supplying, inscribing with the number of the grave
and up to a maximum of forty (40) other-
characters, and fixing tablet in lawn burial area . . .'! 0 0 i
" 16. Inscribing additional characters on a lawn burial The cost to the '
tablet . . . . . . . . . Trustees.".
