Amendments of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations (ACT)
Regulations 1979 No . 15 Regulations under the Cemeteries Ordinance 1933"
I, ROBERT JAMES ELLICOTT, the Minister of State for the Capital Territory, hereby make the following Regulations under the Cemeteries Ordinance 1933.

A M E N D M E N T S OF THE CANBERRA PUBLIC CEMETERY
REGULATIONS 2
1. Regulation 1 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:
" 1 . These Regulations may be cited as the Canberra Public Cem eteries Regulations.".
2. Regulation 2 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended—
(a) by inserting in sub-regulation (1) before the definition of
" g r a v e " the following definition:
tees of the Canberra Public Cemeteries;". " 'Canberra Public Cemeteries' means the public cemeteries in
the Territory;";
(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the definitions of "the Cemetery" and " the Groundsman" and substituting the follow ing definition: " ' the Groundsman' , in relation to a public cemetery, means a person appointed to be the Groundsman in respect of that public cemetery;": and
(c) by omitting from sub-regulation ( 1) the definition of " the Trus t ee s" and substituting the following definition: " ' the Trustees' means the persons appointed to be the Trus
3. Regulation 4 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) "Second Schedule" and substituting "Schedule 1".
4. Regulation 6 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) "Third Schedule" and substituting " Schedule 2 ".
5. Regulation 11 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting "The Cemetery" and substituting "Each public cemetery".
6. Regulation 12 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended—
| (a) | by omitting "The Cemetery" and substituting "Each public cemetery"; and |
| (b) | by omitting "during which the Cemetery" and substituting "dur ing which a public cemetery". |
7. Regulations 13 and 14 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regu lations are repealed and the following regulations substituted:
" 1 3 . The Trustees shall erect in a conspicuous part of each public cemetery, and maintain in good order, a notice board indicating—
| (a) | the name of the public cemetery; |
| (b) | the hours during which the public cemetery is open to the public; |
| (c) | the name of the Secretary; and |
| (d) | the address of the office of the Trustees. |
"14 . (1) The Trustees shall cause plans to be prepared showing a lay-out and detailed sub-division of each public cemetery.
| " ( 2 ) The plans referred to in sub-regulation (1) shall be kept at the office of the Trustees. |
" ( 3 ) A copy of the plan of a public cemetery shall be kept at the public cemetery.".
8. Regulation 15 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) " the Cemetery" and sub stituting " a public cemetery".
9. Regulation 16 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting " the Cemetery" and substituting "each public- cemetery".
10. Regulation 18 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is
amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) " the Cemetery" and sub

| 11. Regulation 19 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) "Registration | of Births, Mar |
| riages and Deaths Ordinance 1929-1938 " and substituting | "Registration |
| of Births, Deaths and Marriages Ordinance 1963 ". |
12. Regulation 24A of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:
" 2 4 A . Notwithstanding anything contained in regulation 24, not more than one body shall be buried in an allotment specially set apart in pursuance of paragraph 5 (1) (c) of the Cemeteries Ordinance 1933.".
13. Regulation 26 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) " the Cemetery" and sub stituting " a public cemetery".
14. Regulation 27 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting " the Cemetery" and substituting " a public cemetery".
15. Regulation 27A of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) " the Cemetery" and sub stituting " a public cemetery".
16. Regulation 28 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting " the Cemetery" (wherever occurring) and substi tuting " a public cemetery".

stituting " a public cemetery".
18. Regulation 30 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) " the cemetery" and substitut ing " a public cemetery".
19. Regulation 32 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (c) " the cemetery" and substitut- i n g " a public cemetery".
20. Regulation 33 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended—
(a)
by omitting "within the cemetery" and substituting "within a public cemetery"; and
| (b ) | by omitting from paragraph (g) " the Cemetery" and substitut ing " the public cemetery". |
21. Regulation 34 of the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended by omitting " the Cemetery" and substituting " a public cemetery".
22. The Schedules to the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations are amended by omitting the heading " T H E SCHEDULES" .
23. The Second Schedule to the Canberra Public Cemetery Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule substituted:

24. The Third Schedule to the Canber ra Public Cemetery Regulations is amended—

| (c) | by omitting from item 8 "Exhumation and reburial in another allotment in the Cemetery" and substituting "Exhumation from a public cemetery and reburial in another allotment in that pub lic cemetery". |
