Interior, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the Building and

Services Ordinance 1924-1942, hereby make the following Regulations.

A M E N D M E N T S OF T H E C A N B E R R A A N D J E R V I S BAY
E L E C T R I C S U P P L Y R E G U L A T I O N S .

1. Regulation 10 of the Canberra and Jervis Bay Electric Supply Defects.

Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulations:—

" (2.) The Electrical Engineer may give notice in writing to a consumer requiring him to make good any defect in the consumer's installation and the consumer shall make good the defect within fourteen days after the date on which such notice was given.

" (3.) If a consumer neglects or fails to comply with any require-

ment of a notice given to him in accordance with the last preceding

2. Regulation 11 of the Canberra and Jervis Bay Electric Supply Additions,

Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

" (1.) An addition to the wattage or horse-power of motors, lamps, or cooking, heating or domestic appliances shall not be made unless—

(a) the consumer has lodged with the Electrical Engineer an application in writing for approval of the proposed addition; and
(fe) the Electrical Engineer has notified the consumer in writing

that such addition has been approved,

and the addition shall not be connected until it has been tested, inspected

and passed by the Electrical Engineer.".

3. Regulation 13 of the Canberra and Jervis Bay Electric Supply " (3.) A consumer shall not, without authority, alter or attempt to alter the index or connexions of any meter or prevent or attempt to prevent any meter from registering the quantity of electricity supplied. " ( 3 A . ) For the purposes of the last preceding sub-regulation, the

meters, &c. Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in •
its stead the following sub-regulations :—

person who signed the application form for the supply of electricity to the premises in which the meter and connexions are installed shall be deemed to be the consumer and where any person has, without authority, altered or attempted to alter the index or connexions of the meter or prevented or attempted to prevent the meter from duly registering the quantity of electricity .supplied, the consumer shall be deemed to have

J contravened the provisions of that sub-regulation, unless the C o u r i ^ is satisfied that the alteration or prevention was effected, or the attemp^J to alter or prevent was made, without his knowledge.".
