1.—(1.) Eegulation 3 of the Apprenticeship Eegulations is repealed
and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

(a) in an apprenticeship trade other than the trade of
0323.—PRICE 3D. hairdressing—
In the first year . . 30 per centum. In the second year 37-|-per centum. In the third year . . 47£ per centum. In the fourth year 621 per centum. In the fifth year . . 85 per centum.
(b) in the trade of hairdressing—
Males. Females.
In the first year . . 30 per centum. 32 per centum. In the second year 37^ per centum. 45 per centum. In the third year . . 55 per centum. 75 per centum.
In the fourth year 75 per centum. 90 per centum.
" (2.) Where the Secretary certifies that any apprentice has obtained
at least 75 per centum of the possible marks in any annual examination
conducted by the school known as the Canberra Technical College in the
• Notified in the Commonwealth Gazette on 21at December, 1950. theory and practice of the apprenticeship trade in which he is appren- ticed, the rate of wages payable to the apprentice in the year next following that in which the examination was held, shall be such rate as would be payable if for the rates specified in the last preceding sub- regulation the following rates were substituted :—
(a) m an apprenticeship trade other than the trade of hairdressing—
I n the second year 40 per centum, In the third year . . 50 per centum, I n the fourth year 65 per centum, In the fifth year . . S7J per centum.
(b) in the trade of hairdressing—
Males. Female,.
In the second year 40 per centum. 47-J per centum. f. In the third year . . 5 7 | per centum. 77TJ per centum I n the fourth year 77-| per centum. 92ij per centum
" (3.) The rates of wages payable to trainee apprentices shall be
five per centum greater than those for apprentices.".
(2.) This regulation shall come into operation on the fourth day of
January , 1951.
