Amendment Statement of Principles

concerning

THORACIC SPONDYLOSIS

No. 69 of 2018

for the purposes of the

Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986

and

Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004

  1. This Instrument may be cited as Amendment Statement of Principles concerning thoracic spondylosis No. 69 of 2018.

  1. The Repatriation Medical Authority amends, under subsection 196B(8) of the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986, Statement of Principles concerning thoracic spondylosis Instrument No. 64 of 2014 (Federal Register of Legislation No. F2014L00931) by:

A.Repealing factors "(i)", "(j)", "(u)" and "(v)" in clause 6 and substituting the following:

"(i)       lifting loads of at least 20 kilograms while bearing weight through the thoracic spine to a cumulative total of at least 100 000 kilograms within any ten year period before the clinical onset of thoracic spondylosis; or";

"(j)       carrying loads of at least 20 kilograms while bearing weight through the thoracic spine to a cumulative total of at least 3 800 hours within any ten year period before the clinical onset of thoracic spondylosis; or";

"(u)      lifting loads of at least 20 kilograms while bearing weight through the thoracic spine to a cumulative total of at least 100 000 kilograms within any ten year period before the clinical worsening of thoracic spondylosis; or";

"(v)      carrying loads of at least 20 kilograms while bearing weight through the thoracic spine to a cumulative total of at least 3 800 hours within any ten year period before the clinical worsening of thoracic spondylosis; or".

  1. The amendments made by this instrument commence on 23 July 2018.
