Regulations under the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936-1974.*

I, G O R D O N M U N R O B R Y A N T , the Minister of State for the Capital Terri tory,
hereby make the following Regulations under the Motor Traffic Ordinance
1936-1974.

A M E N D M E N T OF THE MOTOR TRAFFIC REGULATIONS!

1. After Regulation 11B of the Motor Traffic Regulations the following regulation is inserted:

" 11c. ( 1 ) A trailer the gross weight of which does not exceed five thousand
pounds shall be equipped with a safety chain that complies with the require­

ments of the s tandard known as 'Aus t ra l i an Standard D25-1972—Safety Chains

for T r a i l e r s ' .

" ( 2 ) In this regulation, ' g ross weight ' , in relation to a trailer, means the unladen weight of the vehicle together with the weight of the load being carried on the vehicle.".

2 . (1) The Motor Traffic Regulations as amended by Regulation 1 apply to and in relation to the registration, or the renewal of registration, of a trailer or on after 1 July 1974.

(2) The Motor Traffic Regulations as in force immediately before the date of commencement of these regulations cont inue to apply to and in relation to the registration, or renewal of registration, of a trailer before 1 July 1974.
