Regulation under the Juries Ordinance 1967. *

the following Regulation under the Juries Ordinance 1967.

A M E N D M E N T OF THE JURIES F E E S REGULATIONS

T h e Schedule to the Juries Fees Regulations is repealed and the following

Schedule subst i tu ted:—

1. For attendance on a day on which the person summoned or appointed to attend to serve as a juror does not serve as a member of a jury or serves as a member of a jury at a trial that does not continue on more than three days—

(a)

where the period from the time at which the person is required or appointed to attend to the time when the person is excused from further attendance on that day or is discharged from further service does not exceed four hours—$10 or, if the financial loss incurred by reason of the person's attendance on that day exceeds $10, the amount of the loss or $20, whichever is the less; and

(b)

where the period from the time at which the person is required or appointed to attend to the time when the person is excused from further attendance on that day or is discharged from further service exceeds four hours—$20.

2. For attendance on the days on which the person serves as a juror at a trial that is

continued on more than three days—

(a)

where the period from the time at which the person is required to attend to the time when the person is excused from further attendance or is discharged from further service on any of those days does not exceed four hours—$10 or, if the financial loss incurred by reason of the person's attendance on that day exceeds $10, the amount of the loss or $20, whichever is the less; and

(b)

where the period from the time when the person is required to attend to the time when he is excused from further attendance or is discharged from further service on any of those days exceeds four hours—

Authorised by the ACT Parliamentary Counsel—also accessible at

(i)   for the first, second and third of the days on which that time exceeds four hours—$20 per day; and

(ii)   for the fourth and any subsequent day on which that time exceeds four hours—$30 per day.

3. For travelling expenses in connexion with his attendance, if the distance between the person's place of residence and the court exceeds three miles, for one journey to the court from his place of residence and for one journey to his place of residence on each day of attendance—25 cents for each mile in excess of three miles of that distance.
