1929-1935.

by the Seat of Government (Administration) Ordinance 1930-1933,

and the Fish Protection Ordinance 1929-1935 hereby make the following

Regulations.

A M E N D M E N T O F T H E F I S H P R O T E C T I O N R E G U L A T I O N S .

1. Regulation 4 of the Fish Protection Regulations is amended by L,c™ce8-

omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words " in the form set out in the Schedule" and inserting in their stead the words " in accordance with Form A in the Firs t Schedule ".

2.   Regulation 4A of the Fish Protection Regulations is amended— Fees. ( a ) hy adding at the end of sub-regulation (1.) the following:—

" Licence for boat or launch used

or intended to be used for

taking fish for sale . . 5 0 per anuum

or

2 6 per half year.

Licence for person taking or

attempting to take fish for

sale . . . . . . 5 0 per annum

or

2      6 per half year ." ;

and

(b) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—•
" (3.) No fee shall bo payable under this regulation by any

aboriginal native of Australia resident in the Territory of Jervis

Bay.".

3.   Regulation 9 of the Fish Protection Regulations is amended— (a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) all the words after

the word " person" (second occurring) and inserting in

their stead the following :—

(i>) by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead

the following sub-regulation:—

" (2.) For the purposes of this regulation—

(«) the length of any Garfish shall be taken to menu the

measurement from the tip of the upper jaw to the end
of the upper half of the tail; and

(b) the length of any other fish shall be taken to mean the measurement from the point of the snout to the end of the tail."

4. After regulation 12 of the Fish Protection Regulations, the

following regulations are inserted:—

" 13.—(1.) Every net used for the purpose of taking marine or (2.) Any person who uses, for the purpose of taking marine or fluvio-marine fish, a net which is not in accordance with the require- ments of this regulation shall be guilty of an offence.

"14.—(1.) A net containing fish shall not be dragged or drawn ashore in such a way or to such distance from the water as to prevent underweight or undersize fish from escaping through the mesh or by the wings of the net into the water or to allow underweight fish to remain on the shore.

5.  The Schedule to the Fish Protection Regulations is amended— First Schedule. (a) by omitting the heading " The Schedule." and inserting in

its stead the heading " The First Schedule.";

(J>) by inserting above the word and figure "Regulation 4 " the

word and letter " Form A.";

(c) By omitting the figures " 1 9 3 1 " (wherever occurring) and
inserting in their, stead the figures "1935 " ; and

SEA GAMTISH NETS.

Total length of net not exceeding 150 fathoms.
Length of bunt not more than one-third of the total length of net.
Mesh of bunt not less than 1J inches.
Length of each wing not less than the length of the bunt, nor less than one-

third of the total length of the net. Mesh of wings not less than 2 inches. Length of hauling-lines not "exceeding 150 fathoms each.

HAULING-NET FOR TIDAL RIVERS AND TIDAL WATERS OTHER THAN LAKES.

Total length of net not exceeding 200 fathoms.
Length of bunt not exceeding one-third of the total length of net.
Mesh of bunt not less than 2 inches.

Length of each wing not less than the length of the bunt, nor less than

one-third of the total length of net.

Mesh of each wing not less than 3 inches.

Length of hauling lines not exceeding 150 fathoms each.

MESUING N E T FOR TIDAL WATERS.
