Amendment of Statement of Principles

concerning

MESANGIAL IGA GLOMERULONEPHRITIS

Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986

  1. The Repatriation Medical Authority amends, under subsection 196B(2) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (the Act), Instrument No.63 of 2001 by:

A.in paragraph 5, deleting the factors (c) and (d) and inserting in their place the following factors:

“(c)      for primary mesangial IgA glomerulonephritis only, inhaling or having dermal exposure to:

(i)oxygenated organic solvents,

(ii)aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents, or  

(iii)aromatic hydrocarbon solvents,

for an average of at least two hours per week over a period of at least twelve months before the clinical onset of mesangial IgA glomerulonephritis; or

(d)       for primary mesangial IgA glomerulonephritis only, inhaling or having dermal exposure to:

(i)oxygenated organic solvents,

(ii)aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents, or  

(iii)aromatic hydrocarbon solvents,

for an average of at least two hours per week over a period of at least twelve months before the clinical worsening of mesangial IgA glomerulonephritis; or”


B.in paragraph 8, deleting the definition of “organic solvents”.

2. The amendments made by this instrument apply to all matters to which Instrument No.63 of 2001 and section 120A of the Act apply.
