Amendment Statement of Principles

concerning

CIRRHOSIS OF THE LIVER

No. 82 of 2011

for the purposes of the

Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986

and

Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004

  1. This Instrument may be cited as Statement of Principles concerning cirrhosis of the liver No. 82 of 2011.

  1. The Repatriation Medical Authority amends, under subsection 196B(8) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986, Statement of Principles concerning cirrhosis of the liver Instrument No. 108 of 2007 by:

(A)Replacing existing factor "(j)" in clause 6 with the following:

"(j)         having received a cumulative dose of at least 0.4 sievert of ionising radiation to the liver from internal deposition of radioactive nuclides before the clinical onset of cirrhosis of the liver; or";

(B)Replacing existing factor "(gg)" in clause 6 with the following:

"(gg)      having received a cumulative dose of at least 0.4 sievert of ionising radiation to the liver from internal deposition of radioactive nuclides before the clinical worsening of cirrhosis of the liver; or";

(C)Deleting existing factors "(k)" and "(hh)" from clause 6;

(D)Re-numbering existing factors "(l)" to "(gg)" in clause 6 as "(k)" to "(ff)" respectively;

(E)Re-numbering existing factors "(ii)" to "(uu)" in clause 6 as "(gg)" to "(ss)" respectively;

(F)Replacing "6(x) to 6(uu)" in clause 7 with "6(w) to 6(ss)".

  1. The amendment made by this instrument applies to all matters to which Instrument No. 108 of 2007, section 120B of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 and section 339 of the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 apply.

  1. The amendment made by this instrument takes effect from 25 May 2011.
