I, JULIE BISHOP, Minister for Education, Science and Training, pursuant to section 8 of the Schools Assistance (Learning Together – Achievement Through Choice and Opportunity) Act 2004 ("the Act"), approve these amendments to the States Grants (Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) (SES Scores Guidelines) Approval 2000.

Amendment No. 1 to the States Grants (Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) (SES Scores Guidelines) Approval 2000

(i)      CITATION

This Approval may be cited as Amendment No. 1 to the States Grants (Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) (SES Scores Guidelines) Approval 2000.

(ii)     AUTHORITY

This Approval is made under section 8 of the Schools Assistance (Learning Together – Achievement Through Choice and Opportunity) Act 2004.

(iii)    DATE OF EFFECT

This Approval shall come into effect on 1 January 2008.

(iv)    AMENDMENT

This Approval amends the States Grants (Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) (SES Scores Guidelines) Approval 2000 which was made under section 7 of the States Grants (Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) Act 2000 on 21 December 2000, is now continued in force under section 8 of the Schools Assistance (Learning Together—Achievement Through Choice and Opportunity) Act 2004 (see section 151 of that Act), and was registered on 29 March 2007.

DETAIL OF AMENDMENTS

Item 1

At paragraph 2 “Definitions” of the Schedule delete the note to the definition of SES dimension score and replace with the following:

After paragraph 5 “Example of the method to be followed in calculating the SES score for a school” of the Schedule add the following:

6          SES score for Special Assistance Schools and Special Schools

The SES score for Special Assistance Schools and Special Schools can be calculated by ascertaining the score that, for the purpose of the tables in Parts 1 and 2 of Schedule 4 of the Act, has an associated current funding level of 70 per cent of Average Government School Recurrent Costs (AGSRC).
