BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: —

Short title.

J. This Act may be cited as the "Ambulance Services (Amendment)

Act, 1983".

Commencement.

2. (1) Except as provided by subsection (2), this Act shall commence

on the date of assent to this Act.

(2) Section 3 and Schedule 1 shall commence on 1st February, 1984.

Amendment of Act No. 72, 1976.

3. The Ambulance Services Act, 1976, is amended in the manner set

forth in Schedule 1.

Termination of ambulance contribution schemes.

4. (1) A scheme established, conducted and operated by the Health Administration Corporation under section 7 of the Ambulance Services Act, 1976, immediately before 1st February, 1984, shall, on that date, be terminated.

(2) The Minister may give such directions of a savings or transitional nature as the Minister thinks fit consequent upon the termination of a scheme referred to in subsection (1) .

(3) Any such directions have effect according to their tenor.

AMENDMENTS TO THE AMBULANCE SERVICES ACT, 1976.

(1) Section 3—

Omit the matter relating to Part III.

(2) Section 4, definitions of "contribution", "contribution scheme",

"contributor"—

Omit the definitions.

(3) Part III—

Omit the Part.

(4) Section 12 (3) —

After section 12 (2), insert:

(3) Nothing in this section affects Part IV of the Health Insurance

Levies Act, 1982.

(5) Section 14 (5) (a l ) —

After section 14 (5) (a), insert:—

(a l ) any person engaged in the conduct or operation of the State Ambulance Insurance Plan established under the Health Insurance Levies Act, 1982;

(6) Schedule 3, clauses 9-11 —

Omit the clauses.
