2 Ambulance Service Amendment (No. 1) No. 9, 1994 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Ambulance Service Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 1994 . ˙ Amended regulation 2. The Ambulance Service Regulation 1991 is amended as set out in this regulation. ˙ Amendment of s 3 (Definitions) 3.(1) Section 3 (definition “subscriber” )— omit . (2) Section 3— insert— ‘ “after hours student care centre” means a centre that provides care and supervision of students either before or after kindergarten, preschool or school hours; “care centre” means a centre that provides care, therapy, rehabilitation or respite care services or any combination of the services for persons to whom the Disability Services Act 1992 applies; “group scheme” means a scheme in which a concessional fee is payable under section 8 for entitlement to services, on conditions, specified in section 9; “hostel” has the meaning given by the Health Act 1937 ; “member” of an organisation means a person— (a) who attends as a student— (i) a state education institution; or (ii) a primary or secondary school or special school that is not a state education institution; or (iii) a kindergarten or preschool; or (iv) a TAFE college; or
3 Ambulance Service Amendment (No. 1) No. 9, 1994 (v) university; or (vi) an after hours student care centre; or (b) to whom the Disability Services Act 1992 applies and who attends a care centre for the provision of services for the person’s disability; or (c) who is a resident of— (i) a hostel; or (ii) a nursing home; or (iii) a refuge; or (d) who is a member of an amateur recreational or amateur sporting association; “nursing home” has the meaning given by the Health Act 1937 ; “refuge” means an accommodation service for— (a) women and children escaping domestic violence; or (b) homeless people; or (c) children in the care of the chief executive of the department within which the Children’s Services Act 1965 is administered; or (d) persons to whom the Disability Services Act 1992 applies; “state education institution” has the meaning given by the Education(General Provisions) Act 1989 but does not include a kindergarten or preschool; “subscription fee” means the fee payable under the Act to become a subscriber. ’. ˙ Amendment of s 4 (Subscriptions) 4. Section 4— insert— ‘(4) If a subscriber pays a family subscription or a family pensioner subscription, the subscription covers the subscriber’s family. ’.

Section 5(1)— omit, insert— ‘5.(1) A subscriber is entitled, free of charge, to— (a) first aid; and (b) casualty room treatment at an ambulance station where casualty room facilities are provided; and (c) emergency treatment; and (d) pre-hospital patient care; and (e) in the case of an emergency or accident, or at the direction of a medical practitioner—ambulance transport mentioned in section 6. ’. ˙ Insertion of new ss 8 and 9 6. After section 7— insert— ˙ ‘Group scheme subscribers ‘8.(1) A corporation that is an organisation mentioned in column 1 of the Schedule is a subscriber to a group scheme if the corporation pays a subscription fee each year worked out using the appropriate formula in column 3. ‘(2) If a subscriber to a group scheme is an organisation that is a corporation, the members of the organisation are entitled to the entitlements of the corporation. ‘(3) A person who is a member of an organisation mentioned in column 1 of the Schedule that is not a corporation is a subscriber to a group scheme if the organisation pays a subscription for the member under subsection (4). ‘(4) An organisation mentioned in column 1 of the Schedule that is not a corporation may pay a subscription fee for its members each year worked out using the appropriate formula in column 3.
5 Ambulance Service Amendment (No. 1) No. 9, 1994 ˙ ‘Levels of group scheme cover ‘9.(1) A member of an organisation in a group scheme is entitled to the services mentioned in section 5 if the conditions in this section that are applicable to the member and the organisation are met. ‘(2) The conditions applicable to the member and the organisation are the conditions specified in this section for the appropriate level of cover for the organisation mentioned in column 2 of the Schedule. ‘(3) Level A cover applies to a member of an organisation if the member is injured or becomes sick. ‘(4) Level B cover applies to a member of an organisation if the member is injured or becomes sick when the organisation is responsible for the safety and welfare of the member. ‘(5) Level C cover applies to a member of an organisation if the member is injured or becomes sick when the member is at the member’s organisation for the provision of supervision, care, therapy, rehabilitation or respite care or any combination of the services and the member is not— (a) a resident of the organisation; or (b) at the organisation for schooling. ‘(6) Level D cover applies to a member of an organisation if the member is injured or becomes sick at an event of the organisation but does not include the time during which the member travels to or from the event unless the member is travelling— (a) to or from training; or (b) to or from a recreational or sporting event in which the member is involved as a member of the association. ’. ˙ Insertion of new Sch 7. After section 9— insert—

(a) Up to 20 beds at the refuge—$18; or (b) if over 20 beds at the refuge—$18 + $5 for each bed over 20 beds. $18 multiplied by the

Nursing Home Level A 8. Amateur recreational or amateur sporting association Level D $36 multiplied by the number of beds at the nursing home. If the entire annual subscription is paid in advance, a discount on the subscription of 4% must be given. (a) $5 per member; or (b) if 2 or more members are from the same family—$10 for the family. ’.
