No. 61 of 1952.

AN ACT to amend the Alsatian Dog Act,

1929-1938.

[Assented to 23rd December, 1952.]

BE it enacted, by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Alsatian

Short title

and citation.

Dog Act Amendment Act, 1952.

(2) In this Act, the Alsatian Dog Act, 1929-

1938,

Act No. 34 of 1929 as amended by Act No. 6 of

1938,

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3)

The principal Act, as amended by this Act,

may be cited as the Alsatian Dog Act, 1929-1952.

2. Section two of the principal Act is amended

by

(a)

inserting immediately before the word "No"

in line one the figure one in brackets, thus,

"(1)";

(b)

adding after the word "shillings" in the last line a subsection as follows:

(2) The provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall not apply to a person who is the owner of, or keeps or has in his possession, or under his control, any dog of the Alsatian wolf-hound species, where

(a)

the dog is to be trained as a guide dog for the purpose of assisting blind persons; and

(b)

the owner of the dog has executed a bond in the - prescribed form with a surety or sureties in a penalty fixed in each case by the Minister but not exceeding the sum of One "hundred pounds, conditioned for the effective sterilisation of the dog before it attains the age of three months;

(c)

a person, wishing to bring into the State a dog of that species, obtains from the Minister a per- mit to do so and complies with such conditions as the Minister imposes, and is hereby author- ised to impose in respect of the permit and the dog.
