Air Pollution (Amendment) Act (No. 2)

An Act to amend the Air Pollution Act 1984
[Notified in ACT Gazette S321: 3 December 1996]
The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Air Pollution (Amendment) Act (No. 2) 1996.
Commencement
2. This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the Gazette.
Principal Act
3. In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Air Pollution Act 1984.1
Permits for burning plant matter
4. Section 27A of the Principal Act is amended—
(a)by omitting subparagraphs (2) (a) (i) and (ii) and substituting the following subparagraphs:
“(i)to reduce a fire hazard;
(ii)to clear the land; or
(iii)to conserve biological diversity or ecological integrity; and”;
(b)by adding at the end of paragragh (3) (a) “and”;
(c)by omitting from paragraph (3) (b) “and”; and
(d)by omitting paragraph (3) (c).
