Air Navigation Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Air Navigation Act 1920.

1. Amendment

1.1 The Air Navigation Regulations are amended as set out in these

Regulations.

2. New regulation 311CDA

2.1 After regulation 311 CD, insert:

Aviation security: dogs at certain category 1 airports

"311CDA. (1) For each category 1 airport specified in subregulation (2), the measure specified in subregulation (3), to be implemented by the airport operator, is a prescribed matter for section 22ZL of the Act.

"(2) The airports are:

(a) Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport; and

(b) Melbourne International Airport; and

(c) Brisbane International Airport.

"(3) The measure is the keeping available, by the uniformed security force that provides continuous patrolling at the airport under paragraph 311CD (1) (a), of at least 2 dogs that are trained to detect explosives, and a handler for each dog.".
